Re: Do you still wear nursing pads?

  • I know some moms can stop wearing them when their supply regulates but I still leak during letdown and if I'm overfull.

  • Same here, @jcwinsto‌. I learned I can't use the thin ones bc I leak right thru those bad boys at night. So, I'm back to Johnson & Johnson. I can't believe that others don't need them bc I'd leak during let down every time.

  • I do when I go out because I bottle feed then and don't want to leak since I am not bf.

  • I toss in a washable opposite the side he's initially feeding on since I leak heavily during letdown. No pads between nursing.

Have you considered using Milkies or a milk saver to catch that leaked milk?

I use a breast shell to collect leaks and save it to feed him later in a bottle.

I do it sometimes at night. If DD sleeps well it is a whole between feeds and I leak like crazy.

I used to, but now that i only nurse him a few times a day i don't bother so much.

I can see how it would be a pita to do it every time.

  • I quit wearing them once my supply regulated - about 4 weeks.  I voted formula feeding, since that's what we've been doing since 5m, but before that I hadn't worn them for a loooong time.  If we were going on a special date or something I wore them just in case, but never actually leaked.

  • I picked "never did," but that's not completely true. I did wear them a bit in the first 2 or so weeks just in case, but I never actually needed them. I think I leaked one time ever.
  • I don't need them during the day but occasionally need them overnight. I keep them by the bed now and if I wake up feeling full I'll use them. I don't need them every night though and I don't like to waste them, but often the nights I think I won't need them (for ex. after a few nights of no leaking) are the nights I wake up in a puddle.
  • All day every day, but I have oversupply and only pump/nurse 3 times a day now, so my boobs get very full and are more likely to leak.

Luckily I stopped wearing them months ago. Even though I tend to have a large supply, I don't leak.

  • If I am nursing him, I wear one on the opposite side. During the day I don't because I double pump.

  • We weaned at four months, but even with low supply I had to wear them all. The.time.

  • I wore them for the first couple months or so, but mostly to keep nipple butter off my bra, not for leaks.  I never really leaked.
