Diaper Rash

So L has a pretty sore, red bum. Not the first time he's had diaper rash but it isn't responding much to topical treatments. Anyone tried adding baking soda to baby's bath to help? If so how much do you use?

    I've never tried it but I've heard of Jessie's suggestion before. Buttpaste usually works for us.

    Thanks @Jessiebug81‌. I put desitin on it for tonight, but if it looks as bad tomorrow morning I'll pick up the rest of the ingredients for your mixture!

    @kimmyberly26‌ so many people swear by butt paste, but it hasn't helped L much in the past. I still have a tube of it though...it's worth another shot at this point.

    @Encchanted‌ we've been "airing out" after every diaper change today. I have to say watching your LO run around your house with a bare bum is pretty nerve racking! No accidents at least! I put the baking soda in his bath water tonight...you're right, he was a slippery little bugger!

    In the NICU I work in we use a mix of aquaphor, desitin, and butt paste. It seems to work. We also use a lot of air time if it is really bad. Just be sure L's bum is nice and dry from the wipes before putting a diaper back on and try changing diapers more frequently to prevent any more irritation from extra moisture to the area.

    Thanks everyone! It's gotten so bad he cries when he falls on his bum :( I'm going to let him sleep in the nude tonight....there will be a mess in the morning but hopefully the 11-12 hours of air will help. I just feel so very bad for him. Poor baby!
