NTTGPR - movie filming in town

I just had to share as it was kinda fun to watch.  We took DD to the $1 summer movies today and we saw that they were filming.  I knew they had been in the area but had been mostly in Charlotte.  We stopped to watch for a while and even though it was repetitive - car goes in, car comes out, people cross the street, rinse, repeat - it was still fun to watch. I took a few pictures but I didn't see anyone interesting.

Last year they filmed Careful What You Wish For here.  I saw Nick Jonas in the same place they were filming today and Graham Rogers and Dermot Mulroney worked out at my gym so I saw them a lot (NICE guys!). I also got to watch them film The Sentinel at the Mayflower Hotel in DC when I worked there... it was great lunch break entertainment.

I really hope they don't pull the NC tax break from the industry... it really is good for the economy.

Discuss: What movies have you seen being filmed? Did you run into anyone interesting?

I was in Chicago when one of the transformers movies was being filmed. I'm glad we were able to figure out what was happening because it was ... Unsettling at first to see the roads closed off and then this:

So... you're gonna, what? Airlift me in from work?  Bring me dinner? I do find it irritating that Hollywood thinks they can come in a disrupt lives when they are shooting.

I was impressed that the director of this movie today was telling people to go ahead and walk through and then they would commence filming.  They didn't try to stop us from going about our business.

Here in PA there was a filming not too long ago ... Not much happens around here so it's totally random. Anyway, they changed the name of a local elementary school for a few days for the film. Like, the outside signs, indoor banners, etc. 

Don't worry about the kids! They'll all totally understand why everyone is okay with being disrupted for a movie shoot.

Not where I live, but when I visited Croatia they were filming Game of Thrones, it was really awesome! Didn't see anyone exciting, but we could see that they were filming.

We were at Lowes Motor Speedway for qualifying when they were filming Talladega Nights. We watched them film the part where Will Ferrell was running around in his underwear while he thought he was on fire. We were sitting on the front stretch & they were in turn 3.

I live in Los Angeles, so my reaction to on-location shooting is generally, "Those fuckers better not be blocking my car in."

Super old movie, but parts of The Bad Seed were filmed in my town growing up, and a bunch of kids were extras in it.  We tried to go watch a skating scene that most were in, but they wouldn't let us get very close.

@CarolinaGirl83 every time I'm there I think of that movie. I think I yelled something about going fast when I did the ROC Race there last year. I love all the movie posters in the airport. Who knew all that stuff was filmed here?

A Bronx Tale was filmed in my grandmother's neighborhood. I was young but I remember that they changed all the storefronts to look like it was the 60s. It was pretty cool to see. My grandmother got to meet Robert De Niro too

I drove behind a crew filming a car scene in uptown Charlotte a few months back. It was funny cause I was behind them for a while but still have no idea what was being filmed. It was rush hour too and they were going so slow!!

They film a ton here in Western PA. I was an extra in Love and Other Drugs, but did not meet anyone. And I worked on an indie film called Lift and met some cool people. I know a bunch of the local film crew here because I dated an assistant director for more years than I care to think about.

They're sometimes purposefully disruptive and take advantage of the mistique of filming: holding it over people. It's 80% boring and about 20% neat stuff that happens too fast for a bystander to notice.

I work down the block from this church in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and they're filming movies probably twice a year.  Last one was a movie with Bill Murray, I forget what it's called.

I love how diverse the movie industry is.  Didn't it used to be all sound stages and bad effects?  Now they are everywhere!  Fun stories, ladies

I am the worst at remembering names of people, places and things, but I saw them filming a movie in Boulder with Jennifer Garner?  I think that in the movie, her H/Fiance dies?  It was a scene where she was sitting there and people walked by and a skateboarder came through.  We were coming back from lunch and watched a few takes.

Also, when I was in college, they filmed that movie with Bruce Willis where the animals were out wandering in the street and across South Street bridge.

I really hate it when the block street in Center City.

Oh you're talking about catch and release (Jennifer Garner)! I secretly like that movie even though it has its' sad moments.

Here in Georgia, filming is going on all the time..I think it's the whole tax incentive thing we have here. The Walking Dead is always filming. I keep hoping we'll run into some walkers!
The town I'm from here was where Sweet Home Alabama and Remember the Titans were filmed...some of my friends from school were extras!

Final destination 3's raceway scene was filmed in my town. The crowd is pretty much totally comprised of my high school friends.

Nicholas Cage also filmed a movie in my town this past summer...it was supposed to be called Tokarev but I think they changed the name. It isn't even playing in my city now that it is released, Lol. But I did get to watch a couple of scenes being filmed, including a car chase scene that was pretty cool. And Cage came out and shook hands with the crowd when he got out of the car after the shot.

When I lived in Vancouver, BC there were a few movies I saw. The recent Superman ... Twilight (sigh) and the TV show Supernatural. It was pretty neat to watch

Mass. added the tax break for filming several years ago. I lived in Southie during The Departed, Gone, Baby, Gone, etc and it got pretty effing annoying. A chick I'm friends with on FB saw Mark Wahlberg at dinner on Sunday night but that's about it.

I haven't seen any, but Inspector Gadget 2 and some movie with Robert Pattinson were filmed near me.  Apparently a crowd of...10 showed up for R Patz.
