    hi

  • I don't know how to link on mobile but there is a hobby lobby thread that got intense in December 2014.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Since I lurk this thread and I'm sure it'll get noticed anyway, I thought I'd contribute this gem, where OP returns to announce the birth of her love-child after months of inactivity due to being run off the board after she posted that "science babies" aren't "made from love" like her preshus snowflake.

I am not proud that she's an Aug14er.

    You beat me to it!!!

I have a science baby and she was made with more love than anyone could imagine! I wish I had seen her original post.. perhaps I will join in for shits and giggles.

  • I pictured something very similar, @browneyedtornado...then wondered if my poor baby would be a "science baby" since DH is a biologist and I'm a chemist. Oh, and we met on match.com--if you look back at the original FFFC that started it all, I guess we aren't a legit marriage either.

I know a lot of pot head mothers that delivered healthy babies... And also non pot heads with many miscarriages and retarted children. It was a discussion I decided to bring up an I don't really care how anybody feels about it.

  • January 2015 is discussing making their own homemade baby formula. Is this a thing? I'm disturbed yet fascinated. I had no idea... Did anyone do this? Enlighten me.

I know it's super early for me to be thinking about this but I've never liked the smell of baby formula. In the event that I can't produce enough breast milk after my baby is born (even after trying all of the lactation tricks) I want to have a back up that I am comfortable with. My mom made her own formula for my siblings and I and we never had any stomach problems or issues with colic. She gave me the recipe this weekend to try and it tastes great! I have an appointment next Thursday with my OB and I'm curious to see what they think about it.
I know there are a lot of STMs here so I was wondering if any of you have made your own formula?
If you did I'd love the recipe!

Going back to the Hobby Lobby thread, it's always fascinating to me when a person takes one Scripture to backup their entire viewpoint of Christianity & take it nearly or completely out of context.

IE: A poster said this -

I was raised deep southern evangelical and let me tell you there is no other group in this country that is more powerful or that has a bigger victim complex. It's part of the religion itself. If you don't feel shit on, you aren't doing it right. The world HAS to be against you or you are not Christian enough.

2 Timothy 3:12  Yes, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Matthews 5:11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me." (me = Jesus here)

The poster goes on to ETA that not every Christian group or person feels this way to cover their tracks. Well, poster, why don't you tell the WHOLE story about this Scripture? Paul was talking to Timothy who was in jail. Basically, he was telling Timothy that yes, people who follow Christ will be persecuted sometimes.

Have I felt insulted or "persecuted" at times because of my Christianity? Yes. Sure.  I've also felt insulted at times because I'm a woman & a few times because I'm white. The people who live by the "If I'm persecuted then I'm doing it right" are taking the Scripture COMPLETELY out of context. The Scripture is just saying that as followers of Christ there will be times people don't agree with us, life won't be roses & we will have to go through hard times just like everyone else. Christians are being persecuted all over the world. China, Russia & etc. REAL persecution. Not just insults. But the persecution where they are not freely allowed to worship as they choose.

So I don't know what kind of backwoods snake handling " deep southern evangelical" deliverance style "Christianity" that the poster was involved in but dang...ever stop to think that maybe that was just your wacked out experience? Also, before throwing Scriptures out there to prove a point...go ahead & read the ones before it & after it so you actually have a leg to stand on.
    ETA:
    Another poster said this -
This reminds me of typical evangelical and conservative Christian rhetoric. There is no persecution of Christians, and what you're seeing in the media is a result of various groups believing their doctrine or ideology should be legislated. There is no "war on Christians." Such is a fantasy.

Apparently no one reads a newspaper, reads legit interwebz articles or knows anything about foreign countries. What a ding-a-ling.  8-|

@msuducks Awwww :) Thanks for that. I get miffed when people randomly Google a Scripture to back up their viewpoint...whatever that might be. And to other people who don't know the Bible, it really looks like that person is making a huge knowledgeable point about the Bible/Christianity/etc. In reality, the Scripture has nothing to do with what context the poster was saying.

Ever hear that famous Christian saying "The Lord won't put more on you than you can bear?" People say it supposedly to make others feel better when they are going through a horrible time & it's not even in the Bible. Nope. Nowhere. People need to read & comprehend the context or just shut up. Lol. I'm sure every other religion wishes some of their folks would do the same thing. :D

ETA: I just realized the poster put Matthew 5:12 in there also. Which is basically Jesus saying, "You know what? When people are jerks don't worry about it. Your focus is Heaven anyway. So chin up." <--- Skeemer

    Version of the Bible :D

^ This. They call this "script-dipping" where people rummage through the bible to find a snip it of scripture it fit what they are saying but when you look at the full verse or chapter, it has NOTHING to do with whatever they are talking about. Ugh.
  • @babyprigge

ROTFL! I've never heard "Script-dipping" but I love it! OMG, I nearly fell over laughing.

  • @Skeemer‌ glad I made someone laugh today :-) I'll put that check mark in the productive column for the day since I've done Jack so far...

some allergy parents do this ...when AAAAAALLLLL else fails. too much work imo. Luckily my boobies carry us through feeding;), I'm a slacker, and my older son can tolerate allergy-appropriate nutrition.

I loved the hobby lobby thread!!! Good find!

Right! I mean that whole poor people don't deserve any nice things, nice experiences statements is messed up! FFS a beach day is cheaper than most activities.
The days I go to the beach, I spend the least.

I saw this post referenced in another post and didn't search it out. Looks like there was a banning...sigh. I hate missing the boat on a goodie.

I have several friends that have handled smoking pot during pregnancy differently. Some of them say it would help with the nausea and food aversions. I have also done research and have found no harmful effects. But I would never do anything to hurt my child. Can I hear honest opinions from both side without anyone arguing with me or other people who reply.

Hey @Bliss did you see this one?

Board wars - October vs. November

OP posted her rant/observation on the wrong board.

I thought we were pretty nice here on N14, but O14 might really be shitting some unicorn glitter. I cannot believe this chick did not get flamed.

It's super long, but the TLDR version: OP basically plans her own baby shower (since the day of her BFP guise!) and then complains about everyone (she's micromanaging) who helps out -- especially her mother (who is supposed to be throwing the party?) because what she did wasn't good enough or what OP wanted. Culminates in the end with tears when opening her mom's present (after the shower since they apparently didn't have the venue long enough -- 6 hours -- for her to open her presents) because her mom bought her stuff. All she wanted was love, yo! (And a perfect catered garden tea party with pink accents!)

That is seriously one of the worst shower posts ever. I'm disappointed though. I actually read the whole insanely long OP and was excited to read all the flames, but they're so caught up in the board wars, there aren't really comments about the shower. Can we get the Baby Shower Board over there or something?

I'm thinking of just xposting to the BSB. LO didn't sleep last night, so I didn't sleep, and that makes me a not nice person.
I fully support that lack of sleep induced bitchiness decision.

This one is very yelly about BF vs FF and some troll getting banned for coming to the BF board to stir up shit.

She had to have done more than just her responses to those threads. I wish they had elaborated.
