Cloth Diapering

Folds for squirmy squishes

So my little man haaaates getting his diaper changed. Our AIOs and fitteds seem to be working fine but I can't seem to get a prefold on this boy while he is throwing a fit. He screams like he is being tortured.

We try and feed him before a change and have a pacifier on hand for comfort but we still wind up with 6 pounds of flailing tiny human.

What folds do you find most effective for squirmies?

bikini twist is IMO the fasted prefold fold.  It's kind of a PITA to spray poo off of, but if you are still in the NB poo phase, that's NBD.

Also, practice, practice, practice with jelly roll fold.  You'll get really fast, I promise!

  • thanks guys,. I forgot about the trifold.
@chickypoo2468: yeah he is 9 days old and this little 6 pound man is strong for a newborn. He starts kicking and throwing his arms around once he knows his diaper is being taken off. I think I'm in for it when he gets mobile.

  • Is there any advice for a bigger baby?  I have a 10 mo old boy and I took a hiatus from CD bc of leaks.  I think I might want to try it out again but have enough trouble getting him into a disposable.  He hates diaper changing.

DS2 went through a tough diaper changes stage around that age. I chose my easiest diapers (so pockets and AIO/AI2s) for daytime changes. I consistently, firmly said no when he would try to kick me or squirm away. I also use a lot of distraction like giving him a toy or household item that he normally didn't get to play with. He outgrew it (mostly) by 14 months or so.
