I have a confession, kinda. Way back in the early prego days, I think it was a FFFC, I said how much I missed drinking and going out with my friends for Sunday beach days. I remember being attacked and basically being called an alcoholic by a bunch of bumpies. I think maybe 2 people admitted they missed drinking too while everyone else went on about how I need to get used to my "new life". Well I guess jokes on them since we now have bump drinking parties @dknights413 flat.
@aragostavisine in her coffee...Google it. Causes horrible diarrhea and vomiting, but no permanent damage.
On a more serious note...is there an HR department? I would make a formal complaint. What an insensitive bitch.
Please don't. There is nothing HR can do here - we can't fix stupid, insensitive people. We will, however, side eye her strongly with you. Unfortunately, unless it's illegal or harassment, there isn't much to do other than sit both of you down and have a conversation - which will require you to speak up, and it may be uncomfortable.
That being said, if you do feel like it's harassment, then by all means, full steam ahead!
ETA: bolded - was in Wedding Crashers! love that movie.
Seriously?! Do they not do sensitivity training or whatever it is in your office? Being offensive isn't something that's only side-eyed around here, they actually do something if there is someone that is offending people.
Maybe approach your direct supervisor first, before talking to HR, but whoever said it's not her fight is right, that's what managers and HR are supposed to do to help. If she makes it her fight, she can get in just as much trouble as the original offender.
We do - trust me, however, the only thing you'll get from HR in this instance is a discussion at best. There is nothing illegal about what she is doing, just rude and careless. I get people in my office all the time because of this sort of thing, and unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot you can do. You can't fire someone for being rude. You can talk with them and hope they change their behavior, and make sure their manager knows, but other than that, there isn't much.
ETA: like I said, if you feel that you are being harassed, or the person is making your workplace highly uncomfortable to the point where it is affecting how you do your job, then please, by all means, go to HR and file a complaint - that is something we can do. However, until it gets to that point, it's just a disagreement between two people that may require a bit of conflict resolution and discussion, but legally there is nothing more you can do.

I think some of this may depend on the employer. Perhaps it may be difficult to fire someone for being rude, but there can absolutely be other disciplinary action taken. Having something in her file or notes in her evaluation about poor interpersonal relations with her team members might be enough to get her to shut up and stick to work related topics if she has to talk at all. Honestly, from the example given (obviously I don't know and it's none of my business what else has been said) it's possible that she isn't *trying* to be rude, she might just be a fucking idiot and not realize how hurtful her comments are. It is human resources job to bring it to her attention, even if they can't fire her for it.
I've fallen out of love with my ring sling. I think maybe my bewbs are too big for it -- it never fits right and 15 minutes later, my back is numb. My FFFC is that I'm trying to find a different kind of carrier to haul around the nugget and I feel like I've just ventured into a foreign land. I don't know the lingo and I'm struggling to justify the price. I think I want more than a bargain bin one from Walmart, but I'm not sure. There's Tulas and Bebos and Ergos and Kindersomethings and I feel like an uninformed turd who #totallymissedthebabywearingboat.

this world i know...wraps intimidate me, and those are the next step up, IMO. how deep do you want to get into it?

I'm having the same problem! I made the mistake of joining the baby wearing swap on facebook and now I have it in my head that it is perfectly normal to own 230001 wraps and carriers that cost $7000 each even though I am #poor. Thank god I started seeing all the posts where people said they are selling this or that wrap because they need the money to pay for #insertbasicneedhere. I think that snapped me out of it a little.

I think I may be part of the minority, but I LOVE my ergo. I hear Tulas are great too, but if you just want something you can buy from target or wherever, ergo is where it's at!
I really like our Ergo too! Look around online for deals if that's the one you decide to go with...I think Nordstrom has one for $80 right now and there might be even better deals out there...I got ours at Marshall's for $60

If you're going to start looking at the Ergos, this one is only $87! Way cheaper than the others, but not sure if you would care for the color or not.
@awwwpuddin what's the name of the sleep talking app?
DH is a wreck at night. Last night he kept yelling "quit trashing my camp site! Go back to Wyoming!" And then "oh your so warm. We gotta hold each other to stay alive. No Rachel will understand."
I spent the week in Detroit and discovered zip sauce. How have I made it 32 without it? I've spent most of the afternoon collecting zip sauce recipes to try this weekend.

My real confession should have been that I am probably still going to buy either a Tula or a Connecta if I can ever decide which one.
Another Ergo girl here. Used it all vacation and DS did great. He is uber clingy too right now. I just splurged and purchased a Kelty backpack, too. One thing I didn't like about my Ergo is that we burned up belly to belly on long hikes. Plus I can't quite master the back carry by myself. But really awesome for home use, grocery store, etc. I keep it with me at all times.
Heres another I was peaking at the Sep14 board and they are BSC. So many rules! @23melissa28 how do you do it?!? No snark allowed? No one is allowed to talk religion or politics? I was so confused
Just kidding. You guys are funny. It's like you don't know me at all. I have never owned a Rock 'N' Play. I don't have a lactation consultant. And your stalker skills are lacking on your fact checking. Also, people aren't keeping things from you if you have just never asked.

Yes, this! I never said I expected the bitch to get fired, but something SHOULD happen, whether it's through her manager or HR.
If I were to come to my manager or HR rep with this (legitimate) complaint and they said, "oh, too bad, nothing we can do..." they'd also be facing some sort of appropriate disciplinary action.
Mostly a lurker here but my 2 cents...I dislike and sweat over confrontation but am able to do it. I would prepare some sort of response for the next time she says something so you're ready. Personally the next time I would tell her not to ever speak of either of your sons to you ever again. And if she does you'll be speaking to HR about it.

They know they're on the bump, right?
I got a formal ban warning, for sharing the link the that thread from, may 14 maybe? Can't remember. The one where the mod I think stole all thy money? Yeah. So, good times.
So here is a pic of my and my sick LO yesterday. My confession is that today I resorted to lounging and watching TV with him all afternoon - 2nd pic. He has been so snuggly and lethargic and I was exhausted from not getting good rest last night with him.
@hlb622 don't feel bad, that crap is REALLY overwhelming. I'm saving up for a Tula. There's a print I really, really want.
Which one? I just got mine, and went back a week or so later to link it to something, and the print was gone! Apparently they sell out fast!
Paxbaby still has yours! I looked today because I am so tempted. They might only have it in toddler size though -- I can't remember (I didn't look hard, and I also looked at Unicorny).

@hlb622 if you're not looking to spend a ton, target has all galaxy gray ergos(gray with white stars) on clearance. You can get them for as cheap as like 35 bucks right now. They are a great option! Tulas are more comfortable, imo, but more expensive (150); however, tulas have exceptional resale values and sell pretty for much exactly what they cost new.
