Cora spent her night in the bassinet instead of the swing for the first time last night without waking up! Yay 6 hours without having to roll over and reapply the pacifier and start the swing back up!!!
Thanks ladies! I think I will put together a little bag with a starbucks gift card, pens, wine and a food gift card. Sadly there's no chik-fil-a here I really want to try it!
I finally got around to filling out DD's baby book. Still need to print some pictures to put on there, but other than that it's all caught up. Now I've just got to keep up with it...
We're dropping C off at my sister's MIL house. She is watching my sister's kids and her SIL's kids. Ok really she's just supervising my niece watch C and SILs 2 year old. Do I pay my niece? Really my nephew and their cousin will be there to help as well as MIL. I don't know proper protocol. It's truly a team effort....
Max is 12 weeks old today. By most standards here in Merica I'd have to return to work tomorrow. Thank goodness for being a teacher. Still have 2 and a half months before I have to go back because the summer doesn't count as part of my 12 weeks!
I've been super anxious about whether I would be able to pump enough milk for when I go back to work and whether my breast pump would work (ameda purely yours). I decided to try pumping this afternoon while DH and I were watching a movie and I got over 7oz between both breasts! I am so relieved! Like throw a party relieved! I feel like 100 lbs have been lifted off my shoulders. Now I just hope there will be enough milk left for when LO wakes up to eat in a little bit lol
I want to buy a blender. Can't afford a Ninja or Vitamix. Any recommendations for an inexpensive one?
@ricecakes1216 we have the more basic Ninja. Got it before they had all of these different versions and it was $40-50 and works great. Amazon has them and ours came from Walmart. It was the blender pitcher and a small food chopper container.
@StrawberryDreams219 Charlie currently has tiger stripes on his forehead from C's fingernails and her patented brand of a smack that ends in a scratch. I spent half an hour this afternoon convincing my two year old that getting her nails clipped was worth the pink nail polish I was promising...

This whole 2u2 deal is hard. I must admit in hindsight I laughed at the whole thing but having them both in tears at the same time is totally overwhelming. Also clipping a two year olds nails (or a 20 month old's nails) is hard! I'm going to have to try the nail polish bribe next time!
I can put nail polish on my 20 month old DS right? I'm running out of bribes.

I think there's non-toxic nail polish designed specifically for kids. So, yes!

I use regular nail polish. She likes to match mommy. @stephross88 you sure can! My sister uses it on her ds because he wants to be like his big sister

After I posted, I saw one for around that price and wondered if it was any good. Thanks for recommending!
Today is my birthday and DD just slept from 10pm to 5am. Its like she knew...or maybe the salt air from our first ocean beach trip yesterday really knocked her out. Either way happy birthday to me!! :-)
I am thinking about going to Italy with baby when he is about 3.5 months. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to go with my dad. We would stay with family. Any thoughts / experience?
@elsa1688 haven't traveled yet with LO, but we went to Italy last year (a year ago tomorrow actually) and LOVED it. It might be a bit more difficult with a baby, but is totally worth it!

I have been a few times and even visited my family but never with my dad (he was born there). I'm panicking a little over logistics of a baby but I don't think I can pass it up
@elsa1688 Do it! I'm a FTM, so I have no experience or tips to give you, but I know lots of people travel with babies, so it must be doable, right? And, it might be a little easier if you're staying with family. People around to help, right? It sounds like an amazing trip!

I was face timing my SIL and she interrupted the conversation and said "is he pooping" I said hmm I am not sure, he is making that poop face, she said "yea there is poop on your leg"

I got my breast pump in the mail today! (I'm in Canada, and my insurance doesn't cover a breast pump, so I waited to buy one until LO and I established our breast feeding relationship.) Washed all the parts and tried it out after Isabel's afternoon feeding, managed to pump a decent 6 oz. Maybe it's just me, but putting that first little bit of breast milk in the freezer felt like a huge accomplishment. I'm going back to school in September and I think I finally understand how it's going to work and I'm feeling so much better about the impending change.
