@ricecakes1216 - LO is smiling so much now and it melts my heart!
I bought a mobile for DDs crib and she loves it. So I actually showered today while she stared at it. Any day I can shower is considered a success in this house!
Husband took the baby around 8 this morning so I could sleep in and give my sore nipples a break. When baby came in to feed we did side lying nursing and he snuggled against me, smiled, ate for a little and passed out. I didn't move him Love baby snuggles.
I'm sitting in the waiting room for my 6 week check up & I left the baby at home with a bottle for my husband to give him bc I thought it'd be a lot easier. There are 5 other babies in the waiting room!! And 2 of them are screaming, my boobs are on fire & I'm quite sure they're gonna overflow my breast pads any minute. Also I keep tearing up & feel like I'm gonna lose it any minute. I miss MY baby!!!
Max was headbutting my boob. I guess he was hungry Also the other day as I picked him up and was getting ready to feed him he licked his lips several times hahaha. Dude likes to eat, what can I say?
Parker slept in 4 hour blocks last night! He ate at 10, slept til 2 and hubby got up and fed him (the 2am feed has always been hubby's shift, I do the rest), and then slept til 6am. So I slept from 10pm til 6 am!!! I really hope this continues.
New record of 20 minutes in swing before crying! Previous record was 5 minutes, so I'm thrilled with the improvement. My coworkers gave it to me saying how amazing swings are to give me a break. He hates it. I'm hoping that he just needs to get older, maybe the lowest setting is too fast for him? Who knows, but I'll take the 20 minutes!
Random question...is there a way to use the Ergobaby carrier for babies less than 12 lbs without the infant insert? I can't bring myself to spend another $25 on it so I might just have to wait a while to use it.
@kks4471 - I thought DD hated the swing and I thought that the lowest setting was too fast. One day I randomly put it on the highest speed and she slept for 2 hours! Maybe increase the speed to see if he likes it.

Both boys have been sleeping for TWO HOURS. In a house where my 3.5 year old boycotts naps most days and my 8 week old rarely sleeps longer than 30 minutes, this is HUGE.
And I've wasted the entire two hours worrying about when they'll wake up instead of napping or doing something productive.

You can roll up a blanket and tuck it underneath baby. The insert is basically a little seat that puts them up higher until they weigh more. I personally hated the insert because it was hot.

The Happiest Baby on the Block says the FASTEST setting is best for swings. Might give it a try?
I saw a new LC today after weeks of being totally discouraged about nursing. I've been tandem nursing with shields and it takes sooo long (30 to 90 mins!) and the girls get so unsatisfied and end up needing a bottle after.
Thanks to this new LC helping me, I have been able to nurse them one on one without shields, and their weighted feeds showed they were getting about 2.5 oz in 10-15 mins. They previously were getting only 1.5 oz in 30 mins.
They are also 8 lbs each now! A little less than 3 lbs above their birth weights!
I reek of maple syrup (thanks fenugreek), my boobs kill me every two hours (thanks oversupply) and my nips are all chafed (thanks pump)... but I am so happy.
I'm XPing this question I asked from the exclusive pump thread hoping to get more opinions..
I have a question.
I went on a road trip and I believe my pump got too hot in the car and fried the motor. When I got home and tried to pump it wouldn't turn on. I had to pump so I ran to Target and bought an Ameda Purely Yours Ultra.
With my old pump (Medela) I was getting 2-3 oz total in 15 minutes. With the Ameda Im getting less than an oz total in 30-40 minutes. I have played around with the suction/speed and never get a good suction. My boobs aren't drained at the end and I'm in pain. I totally wasted money. Obviously I can't return it. Do I go and buy a new one or just pump more frequently for longer periods hoping that I'll get enough? Pumping for 15 minutes every 2-3 hours can be difficult. I can't keep up with the 30-40 minutes.

What would you do?
Is it the right/same size as the last one (the part for the nipple)?
@ktcort13 good luck! I hated that tube but when you can get it right it works wonders!!!
@stephross88 any tips to make it work? I haven't used it yet.
we didn't use it very long before B got his NG but what I did notice was that my LC said to line the end of the tube up with the end of your nip or slightly past it and B seemed to do much better with it when it was a few hairs back from the tip of the nip. otherwise it threw him off. and don't clip the container too high up or the milk may flow too fast I made that mistake a few times. it takes some practice but it is helpful once you figure out what works best for LO

I'd probably spend the money to buy a replacement of the old one. 30-40 minutes pumping sounds awful. Your time is worth the expense IMO
@ricecakes1216 try calling medela. They have excellent customer service ans you might be able to replace the motor for cheaper than buying a whole new pump.
DS had his consult with the surgeon today. the dr said it was one of the worst botched circumcisions he's seen in a long time he scheduled him for the first available surgery slot in August but now I am FREAKING OUT because he has to be put under full anesthesia. has anyone had a baby or toddler who had to be put under before?
That heartwarming moment when you get out of a long hot shower and to hear your husband reading to the baby. the book thief at that so maybe lo will have good taste in literature.
I am about to take LO for a walk with the dog, wish us luck! Tutka loves walks but I don't know how she will do walking next to a stroller.
Good Luck! Let us know how it goes!
Dixie used to suck at walks; was so excited and pulled the leash all the time. With the stroller, she is the perfect walker. She stays right next to me, doesn't pull, and there is even slack in the leash. The first time we went, she looked the other way and ran into the wheel; she pays attention now.
Quote fail It went great, except someone got too hot a block from our house haha. She wouldn't get up

I don't know if that model has membranes but my PISA wasn't sucking like it should have been on one side the first time I used it because of a bad membrane. You could try replacing the membranes if that is possible. You can also try calling Ameda to complain. Maybe you have a faulty pump. Also call Medela and see if there is a warranty.

I'm sorry, @stephross88. I have no experience, but hope everything goes smooth.
Thanks for the input! I'm going to call the birthing center and see how much it'd be to rent a pump until I can figure out what pump to actually spend the money on. I was able to get C to latch for a little while so that helped relieve my boobs. I'm so worried about hurting my supply.
