I don't like 90% of those parties that people have where you sell things. Maybe because we are on a tight budget and I feel guilty not buying much, but most of that stuff is so overpriced!
Visited Costco yesterday and after the anticipation, it wasn't exciting. I LITrally told my husband that it was set up just like SAMs, but with different lighting. After walking around and checking out prices, we decided not to become members.
This is definitely an UO here! Costco ain't that great!
I don't know if this is a UO or a what-grinds-my-gears post or a rant.
Anyway, there's a 3-day conference in northern Michigan that I should attend. BUT. It's at a rustic campground, with bunkbeds, randomly assigned roommates, and shared bathrooms. So I probably won't go. I don't get why meeting organizers think people want to bunk with total strangers. It's cool for some, sure. But I'm not 18 anymore. What if I need to poop? What if I fart in my sleep? What if I need to pick my nose?
I think supermarkets should have a few spots reserved for people traveling with babies. I've gotten caught in the rain with dd, and it's something I've never thought of before having kids, but I think it would be a huge help.

Ours does, but half the time the spots are filled by people who dont have children (or who dont have children with them)

After much excitement and other hullabaloo, I went to a Tupperware party. I left broke. When my order arrived, I was pretty disappointed. For the money I paid, I thought it was a safe assumption that olive green cups would match the olive green bowls. And I was wrong. Never again.
And the 31 bags are cute, yes. But good grief. Embroidered tote bags are not new. Staaaaaaahp.

Some stores have special spots but you'll never believe *winkwink* how many people park in them without children.
Story time! We were walking out of the store once and saw a guy pull into the shopper with children spot and my FI is so great he goes, "HEY! I think you forgot your kid!" with a huge smile. The guy moves his car to...get this...3 spaces down! He then shouts to us as we're unpacking the groceries that he shouldn't have parked there and thanks for letting him know. LOL! what a jackass.
I heard on the radio that the next movie they are making Thor a woman. I don't like it.
like, what do you mean? I don't get it. Plot twist? Is this supposed to happen? Is this the written word?? Does he have his surgery date set? I have many inquiries.
I heard on the radio that Kim Kardashian is raking in a bagillion dollars on some stupid app where a cartoon of her goes to parties and says stupid shit about nothing important. She's an asshole. People who continue to buy her products and add to her bank account aren't much better in my eyes. I mean, there are people who know more about her personal life than they do about our government. If we ignore her, she might go away! Maybe...

because my UO is that i don't mind these parties--if it's something i actually want to buy. i am not interested in tupperware, jewelery, makeup, candles, etc......sign me up for tastefully simple parties, pampered chef....and even though i'm firmly a member of #teamnosex, i looooove passion parties/pure romance and own too many things from their catalogs.
edit: i will never *host* the parties, but i will attend if there's food involved (i noticed i wrote tastefully simple and pampered chef lol).

Yep 100% with you. My cousin just had her 2nd baby and decided to take a full year off (she's a teacher and in MD you can elect to take up to 2 yrs off and your position will be held, though you obv only get whatever leave time you have as mat leave pay). Anyways, she decided to be a Pure Romance consultant to supplement her DH's income for the time being... She keeps asking me to have a party and while I would love to support my dear cousin I'm admittedly a little judgey that she chose to sell #allofthesexythings as an income (not exactly the same as Pampered Chef, Scentsy, Thirty One, Tupperware, etc). Just not in the market for that overpriced crap. And it seems all her friends are into it too so I am getting daily FB invites to Thirty One, Ava Anderson, Pure Rpmance, etc. OMJG just stahp people!
Those product parties wouldn't be so bad if it wasnt for the sales people "ZOMG!!! this is the best job i have ever had!!! you totally make your own career and go as far as you want! if i keep selling i will drive a mercedes!!!! WHO ELSE WANTS TO WORK FOR THIS COMPANY!?!?!?!" #iassureyouidonot #youwillneverdriveamercedes #itsbadenoughihavetolistentoyousellyourproducts #dontsellmeacareerialreadyhaveone #youwillnotbedoingthisin1yearstimeipromise
I agree. Kind of. I sell Scentsy. I am no where near like this. I've been selling it for 3 years. I never even mention it to my customers about them selling it. I figure if they're interested, they'll ask me. No pressure & no one gets uncomfortable.

yes!!! and how they pretend the parties are fun. they're not. they just better have food. when i attend these, i know what i'm getting myself into. a sales pitch. i just think of it as watching a real live informercials. and i LOVE informercials.

I'm not exactly sure. It kinda said like "whoever holds the hammer is Thor." But it said it's going to be played out and they can't give away details.
I'll add to the product selling stuff. It drives me crazy when my FB newsfeed gets blown up by someone promoting their stuff. One of my coworkers starting doing the Rodan and Fields stuff and is constantly posting. She finally made a separate page but it doesn't help much. Thank goodness for the block feature!
I don't like P interest.
And not just the whole "creating unrealistic societal expectations to have the perfect party" or whatever. It's not even that.
The actual website just sucks. I have an account and I go on occasionally to look for recipes, but I never know what the hell is going on. I have to click like 6 times just to get to the actual recipe, and sometimes I can't even find it. Just having the picture doesn't help me. And then I go back to the original search , and I am all lost and see the same recipe repeated many times.
#clusterfuck
I feel like it used to be more user friendly but then they did some changes about a year ago and now, like you said, you have to click 56 times to get to a tutorial.
I also don't mind the product parties... but don't pressure me to buy stuff. A lot of times I'll only go to support my friends for hosting one. Don't talk me into hosting a party and don't ask me to sell it. If I'm interested, I'll ask.
For instance, I'm hosting my own book party because I love the books and DS loves the books (thanks @afolske16). It's all on fb and I've had some great interest. If people don't want to buy, they won't. But I do love the products which I think makes a huge difference. I've even thought about selling it myself.
A UO: I love that the weather is in the 60's in the mornings! It's been fabulous to get out with DS and my furbaby before work.

I believe this is because most pinners don't know how to pin things properly, and then other people keep repinning the same image with a wrong or broken link bc they like the picture.
#youusedtobeinvited
#nowtheyletjustanybodyin
Wait so if I search for, say, candles on Pinterest, the reason why I must click through a maze of pictures is because I'm originally clicking on someone's "pin" which then leads me to another's "pin" and so on and so forth, instead of the ULTIMATE original "pin?"
I don't like parties, selling or no. Anything beyond dinner with a few other couples/families makes me think I'm failing some kind of social aptitude test.
I just got suckered into having one of those parties on FB. I have a terrible time telling people no, and it was a very good friend. Since it was on FB, I had to do everything she asked. I couldn't lie, and say I did it because she could see everything.
and she conned me into signing up! lol.
FFThC: if i like the product enough, i sign up to "sell" a lot of these just so i can get a discount, but i have no desire to sell. usually it's pretty easy to make your money back if you were going to #buyallthethings anyway. @hartsl01
p.s. anybody want to help me hit my minimum for mary kay this year? 50% off
Not sure if its a UO/rant/whatevs but, I'm starting to get really realllly twitchy that people still aren't using the "insert image" function when they're mobile. I want to love tit your pics (and still do, I'm a softy) but when I have to squint at the pic OR tap the pic to open in a separate window (and then have TB screw up 90% of the time and send me back to the beginning or end of the thread) it makes it a gigantic hassle. Just tap "insert image" people! Your lyfe will be forever changed!!
I only have the option of 'attach file'when mobile....and it anyways makes them super tiny. I don't use the app though. Is there even an app for droid users?

LOL...How many products have you signed up to sell?
--
I'm only current on Mary Kay and now jamberry lol. I don't think I will make my MK min this year though so that might be the end of it. I've done avon 3xs bc their sign up fee is super cheap, and their initial discount is better than if you're a long term rep. I've split fees with my cousin to do stampin'up and creative designs. But those were sooooo long ago.

It's Usborne books. DS LOVES them which amazes me because he's got a full bookcase of books that he won't touch.
@sweettooth87 - there is no app for droid, just the silly little calendar for when you're pg.
Ugh, I have a friend who sells Nerium and won't stop bugging me to attend meetings with her. I have flat out told her no at least 10 times. I now avoid her altogether.
I'm sorry I don't have friends or family who are willing to spend $100 a month on face cream. I'm not even willing to do that! And it's such a specific audience, just not my bag baby.
@awwwpuddin after you post if you go back to the little pic and click, you can hit delete (you have to scroll to the top and ok the delete) and it will only take the tiny pic away.

Ugh, I've got a friend who just started selling Rodan and Fields. We live in different parts of the state and apparently my area is 'booming' and would do so great with these products. The buy in is over $500, um. no. Plus none of my friends are going to spend $85 on a 4oz. tube of facial cleanser. Just not happening.

LEMON DROPPER PEOPLE GO AWAY!
Essential oils are not new and you're really pissing me off.
I love tastefully simple, but can't afford their food... so I use Pinterest to find the copycat recipes
#mybeerbreadrecipeisamazing
I'm way behind on all these other ones. And I don't understand the essential oils thing - they've been for sale for years at health stores, why the sudden craze??

This is more an observation, but we ran out of uos a long time ago. Now that I have a "big" vehicle, other drivers are so much more respectful. I don't get cut off any more, i don't get tailed anymore, people don't just pull out in front of me. What gives? I was driving around in a tin can death trap before and had to work at avoiding collisions. Drivers are assholes.

You're very welcome
