Hi! I'm on a track in a couple good ways: I am not drinking or eating ice cream. Simply refraining from these two behaviors goes a LONG way to helping my fitness. I went to the gym a little bit recently and have taken up my morning walks again. I'm also trying to double my water intake. It's kind of a silly idea, but it doesn't hurt. Basically, if I go have a glass of water, I have another right away. It's easy to do and I hope to feel better soon. I am going to start the 100 pushups app soon, too. QOTW: My favorite way to stay active is to spend all day working outside. I like building, making things, bucking hay, building fence. If I have to pick a more do-able activity, it is commuting by bike. That's actually quite hard to do where I live right now. But we bike to the store often.

"Things separate from their stories have no meaning. They are only shapes. Of a certain size and color. A certain weight. When their meaning has become lost to us they no longer have even a name. The story on the other hand can never be lost from its place in the world for it is that place.” ― Cormac McCarthy, The Crossing

Well, it's not going too bad. With my Mom being here, she has been going with us to walk the dog every day. And even though it's a shorter walk than we usually go for, it's tiring because it's been so hot here the last few weeks. My Mom can't be outside in direct sun light, or in extreme heat for too long as she has Lupus and she will break out in rashes and all that. So we keep the walks short. But we are all getting out which is good. QOTW: I love taking the pup for walks, washing the cars has become my new favourite thing to do too. Other than that, I'm one of those people who can't seem to stay still. So I am always cleaning the house and doing things like that too.

I think I have made mostly good eating choices this week without stressing myself out over it. I don't really feel like I'm dieting right now, but I'm also not indulging. I'm not tracking calories or anything right now, I just don't have the energy and meal planning is hit or miss with a six week old. Once I am back at work I will be eating two meals a day at my desk again and that will make planning and sticking to a consistent regiment much easier. I have a long ways to go to get back to where I want to be, but I am trying to manage my expectations and cut myself some slack. In terms of staying active, I admit I. Am. Not good at that. Still all. I go through phases where I go to the gym, but I don't stick with it. I guess walking would be my way to stay active (which feels lame), but I don't have a good track record of taking good, long walks regularly. This is something I need to work on!

  • I have not been adhering to my goals this week, which I kind of figured would happen since I was out of town part of the week.  This evening we skipped the gym for taking the kids to the park, which was great and a little exercise - but not really. I think I'm going to schedule 3 days a week to go during the day for 75 minutes (its all the childcare I get until Owen turns 3 months, when it goes up to 3 hours).  I did start cooking again, I've missed it and it's nice to have healthier choices.  Because I'm a little fixated on my weight I've decided not to weigh myself for a while and instead focus on eating healthy, limiting carbs and getting more regular (vigorous) exercise.  We'll see how it goes next week...

QOTD:  I love going on walks. EV and I were taking a lot of walks in the evening, but the truth be told with two kiddos we were stopping every few minutes. It's nice to be active, but I don't think its getting me in shape. Second favorite would be going to the gym. Today I've decided to adopt a minimal parenting technique (to just grab a couple of things for each kid when we leave the house, rather than packing a "suitcase"). I hope this helps ease the stress of running errands and going to the gym.
