Nextfit and Toyota owners

Anyone here drive a Toyota 4 runner and use the Chicco Nextfit car seat?
I'm ready to buy Owen a convertible carseat, and I was looking at the Nextfit in target. The thing is huge! I'm not sure it would even fit in my 4 runner without me eating the steering wheel.

So just wondering if anyone here would know.

Re: Nextfit and Toyota owners

  • I have a Honda crv and a next fit. We put it behind the passenger seat, but it actually takes up less space then his bucket did when it's installed.

  • Thanks. I have a maxicosi infant seat he's still in, and that's behind the passenger currently. We can't put it behind the driver because we are then eating the wheel.

My concern is when the new baby arrives, they'll be behind the passenger, and Owen will go behind the driver.

I guess because it's got what, 9 settings? That if I put it at a reclined position it won't fit good.

Care to share what you have your setting at for your lo?

Our Nextfit fits behind the driver in our honda civic in recline position 1 (which is where it's supposed to be for appropriate leveling in our vehicle). DH is 6'1"and just almost touches the car seat.

    Edit: my phone is dumb.

  • If you have a BRU or BBB near you they will let you try the floor models in your car.  Target may do the same?  Never hurts to ask!

If BRU will price match id get it there. They have the nextfit with a zip off lining and i believe its exclusive to them. I wish mine had the zip off lining so that i can wash it if i needed to.
This! I found out about the zip off lining 2 days after I installed our second nextfit in my MIL's car.

  • We finally purchased our Nextfit and we love it. It takes up the least space of multiple seats we tried and is a cinch to install. When are you due with baby #2? You may be able to use the seat forward facing by then and it will occupy even less depth in your car.

I'm due in January. O will still be rear facing.

  • @violet1183 angle adjusters are exclusive to Diono Radians.  There's nothing you can do for the NextFit except mess around with the recline options and putting pressure near the feet end of the seat to make it as upright as possible while still maintaining the correct angle.

  • I'll see if BRU will let me try the for model first. Sounds like it may fit if it fits in some of the smaller cars.

    Thanks everyone!

  • We love our nextfit too. The install is such a breeze! And Grayson is really comfy in it.
