  • I found out at 13w3d but not by ultrasound. We opted for the Verifi genetic testing. We are having a boy. My husband doesn't like it when I say this but I don't think his little wiener would be big enough to see on ultrasound yet, however the chromosome testing indicated XY.
Pregnant with baby BOY #1 due 2/24/14 after 4 years of TTC and IUI #3
  • I never found out I was having a boy....

  • I had a scan at 15 weeks and the tech told us she would try to look but we weren't allowed to hold her to it since it was still too early.  But once she looked she was like, "oh yeah, I'm 99% sure it's a girl"  we have the anatomy scan next week so we'll see if it still looks that way.  It looked pretty clear to me though haha.

  • I was 12 weeks for ultrasound test for Down syndrome and the women tech told me it was a boy (wrote it on a paper). she seemed pretty sure and didn't say percentages. I hope that is accurate because we started telling our family already. I have a 20 week ultrasound next week so waiting for that also before getting any kind of gear etc.
  • We just found out it's a boy and I will be 16 weeks tomorrow on Labor Day. Good luck!
  • We had our NT scan last Thursday, and we have a great, clear inbetween the legs shot of the baby and there's clearly an extra little somethin somthin sticking out between the legs, we are 95% sure it's a boy, but we aren't going to go out and buy anything until after our 20 week gender scan.

  • I was told the same thing and I go for the US next Thursday. Were they accurate for yours??
  • I found out at 12
  • I'm 14 weeks, they offered the y chromosome test via blood at my appointment recently which I said okay to.

  • I was told at my 14 week appt he thought it was a girl but no way of knowing for sure that early. Went in for anatomy scan at 21 weeks and it is definitely a girl. But I do agree with some of the previous post, I don't think there's a way to 100% know the sex of the baby that soon. I think my doc just got lucky with his guess :)
  • With D s the tech at my 14 week scan asked if we wanted to know and I asked if she could even tell for certain at that point and her response is "usually it's just an educated guess at this point, but I'm fairly certain in your case". We were team green and didn't find out until the birth, but I guess DS was very "showy". I personally wouldn't trust anything earlier than the a/s, though. Unless it was via blood test.

  • If you're really hard pressed to know for sure, there is a blood test that you can do called a Panorama test. All they do is take a vial of the mothers blood. From that they can extract some of the fetal DNA and tell if its a boy or girl. It also gives you high risk/low risk results for chromosomal abnormalities of the 13, 18, 21 and trisomy chormosomes.

We're waiting for the results now!

  • I have always had to wait till 20 weeks to find out. But has anyone had the blood work down ( I think its blood work) that tells you if it a boy or girl? A couple of friends have had this done at 11 or 13 weeks when they do testing.
  • There is a zombie thread apocalypse upon us!
  • I found out at 16 weeks at an elective u/s 100% but just to be safe we got another one done by my actual doctor at 20 weeks and he confirmed that we are definitely having a boy.
  • We found out at 15 weeks then confirmed at 17 weeks with another ultrasound and Panorama.
  • We were told at 11 weeks with DS2.  I was high risk so we had a scan done by my maternal fetal specialist.   He's a top dr in our chicago and super smart so I trusted his opinion at that point and he was right! (guess he was going on the angle of the dangle:)) We knew at 16 weeks from same dr with DS1. This time around we're waiting and I'm not high risk so who knows!

  • 13w3 days tech said 80% sure it's a boy.
  • I call BS on these people who told you the baby's sex at 10 weeks. There's no difference in external genitals at that age. Someone guessed and was right. But why would anyone believe me because it's just science, am I right?

I found out at the end of ten weeks. NIPT, free fetal DNA doesn't lie. Yay for science.

Yay for resurrecting a thread that is from July and for making it more expensive for high risks mothers to get this test done!

  • I found out at 14.5 weeks that it was a boy. An ultrasound tech told me that usually if you can tell it is a boy, it probably is. Once you see "the male parts" you can't un-see them, lol. If you were told you were having a girl at 13 weeks though, I would wait until later on to confirm just to be on a safe side.
  • I was told at 15 weeks 5 days that it was a boy. My 20 week scan revealed she was actually a girl. Wait for your 20 week scan to buy sex specific items or make announcements.
  • with my first one my dr THAT EARLY said oh it looks like a boy but just GUESSING...lol and it was a GIRL hahaha she did the same thing with this one but said it is a girl SOOO I am hoping she is wrong and we are actually having a BOY haha but hey its a 50-50 shot at a guess lol
  • This thread seems so much more unhelpful than helpful lol! I don't know what to think as to when we will find out the sex of our baby. My next appointment I will be just about 15 weeks, so I almost want to tell DH we may find out the sex. But then so many other posts say to wait until 20 weeks. Honestly, for me I can wait until I deliver but DH is the one most anxious to find out. I will say this has made me warn my doctor that if she does have a "guess" that we don't want to know until the 19, 20 week period.... X_X
