Re: Recommend Books on Discipline Please
peaceful parent, happy kids, dr. laura markham (her website, aha! parenting, also has tons of free resources. here's the section on toddler discipline: https://www.ahaparenting.com/ages-stages/toddlers/discipline-managing-toddler)
it's a little hokey, but i like some of the techniques in the happiest toddler on the block, by dr. harvey karp (here's an overview: https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/AmericanFamily/story?id=127989&page=1&singlePage=true)
also:
unconditional parenting, by alfie kohn
playful parenting, by lawrence j. cohen
i think your LO is at a tough age, though- they're into absolutely everything, have no concept of fear, and can't communicate very well. have you looked into baby sign language? some people find that helpful for bridging the communication gap before kids can talk very well. in my experience, once we got to 18 months, things got a little easier because DS's language really took off. he was also able to understand waiting/delayed gratification a little more, and seemed to get that certain things were dangerous.

these are my favorites:
Andrea Nair (she is really great- here is her blog, too: https://www.andreanair.com/parenting-blog/ plus a good overview on parenting toddlers: https://www.yummymummyclub.ca/blogs/andrea-nair-connect-four-parenting/20140625/how-to-reduce-the-stress-of-parenting-a-toddler)

Aha! Parenting
try "toddlerese" from the dr. karp link above. that has worked well for us when DS is frustrated. also giving choices as much as possible ("do you want the red cup or the blue cup?), and announcing transitions/what we will do next ("we'll read this book, and then we have to brush your teeth")- both help reduce frustration. the playful parenting book techniques are also good for getting compliance when they're resistant
hang in there! it will get easier.
