Suspect the LO has a UTI... :(

I already made an appt for him, he will be at the doctor in a little over an hour. He woke up 3 hours early this morning screaming bloody murder, and had peed through his diaper and jammies. When i changed him, as soon as his diaper was off, he immediately grabbed at his privates and started whining..

I know that if i am right, that we caught it early and the doctor can give him something to make it better, but i feel so helpless whenever he is sick or in pain.. And to make matters worse i can't go to this appt, it will be the first one that DH takes him too alone, and i know i need to trust him, but i keep going over all the ways he could "get it wrong". How awful is that? He is just so forgetful and inattentive, so it worries me. I sound like such a b**** but it isn't his fault ya know? Being in the Army did a lot of damage to his sleep and subsequently his memory, so i know he tries his hardest but he just gets things wrong sometimes and normally i am right there to pick up the slack. I am over

I would be nervous to have dh take dd to the Dr without me. Could you write down all of the symptoms for dh? And maybe a list of questions to ask?

Poor little guy, if it were me I'd send a list with my H. He is terrible....he is so terrible, he'd probably loose the list!

They just left.. I sent him with a complete list and made him promise to call me if they have a question he doesn't have the answer for. I sort of feel nauseous. When i said i wanted alone time, this was NOT what i had in mind..

Poor thing. I hope they can give him something to make him feel better ASAP. I had chronic toxic UTI's growing up, and I know how bad they can make you feel. I would send a list as well!

I always send DH with a list of symptoms or questions to have answered, even to his own appointments! i am a nurse and super type A when it comes to that crap. I almost always call in sick and deal with anything medical before I delegate to DH.

You did the right thing sending a list and thankfully a UTI is diagnosable and not something really subjective so hopefully you get some answers. Poor buddy!

The doctor doesn't think he has a UTI, but told us what to watch for. If he develops a fever, we were given this little bag to affix to him for a urine catch (fun...). But she said that it is probably just a rash, and he should be fine. I am keeping a really close eye on him though, because something just feels off. My husband even said that Thoren flipped out when she tried to mess with his penis and that is pretty unusual for him. He doesn't like cold baby wipes down there, or for people to put rash cream on him (again, it's cold, he has a problem with being cold, it makes him super upset), but other than that he's never had a problem with someone touching him anywhere but his ears. I dunno, maybe i'm just being paranoid. He doesn't have a fever, and other then the whole diaper change thing is acting totally normal. Maybe he is just feeling anti-diaper these days? And i know he doesn't really like strangers getting anywhere near him at all, let alone touching him, so i am sure that doesn't help.

My first thought was a yeast infection. I thought DS had a UTI a couple of weeks ago and the pedi said boys rarely get that. His turned out to be yeast.

the tip of his penis was red.
