Any upcoming appointments/tests
(growth u/s, NST, etc) in the next week? I have my normal scheduled OB appointment Wednesday which will be about 2 weeks after I started testing my levels. I am not considered high risk and right now just have normal appointments scheduled every two weeks until 36 weeks and then they become weekly.
Anything you are struggling with
or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? My fasting numbers in the AM are usually between 92-98 when they want them below 90. I know that part of this factor is that I eat dinner pretty late (like 830pm) My other numbers have been good through the day. I have only been over 120 about 4 times and each time I know exactly why.
GTKY: What is your favorite go to snack? I like yogurt with some granola and a few vanilla wafers.

Anything you are struggling with or need help with? Any questions? Anything working well you'd like to share? I just started monitoring my numbers yesterday. I was able to eat 2 pieces of deep dish pizza (minus the outer crust) for lunch with totally normal numbers...that was exciting! Then I had a cup of watermelon as my last snack and my fasting number this morning was 107 not so exciting. I've seen quite a few of you ladies have had issues with fasting numbers as well. Any suggestions on getting these in range?
GTKY: What is your favorite go to snack? Since I just started monitoring yesterday, I'm not really sure what I can and can't handle yet. But there are some really good sugar free candies from Russell Stover that I'm looking forward to experimenting with!
@CrystalRL I will have to try incorporating some protein in my nighttime snack. I'm not used to eating so late so that's the toughest one for me. Especially since I get heartburn at night
I do love evening walks though, so maybe that'll help too! This is definitely a learning process. Thanks for the advice!
Oh I have one other question! Have any of your doctors mentioned c-sections, inducing early, or recommending epidural because of the GD? I haven't really had a chance to talk to my doctor yet since I got my positive results for GD but a lot of what I've been hearing/reading are these 3 things and I really had my heart set on a natural vaginal delivery. Just wondering what my chances are I suppose. Thanks ladies!

Out of all of those I have heard getting recommended for inducing at 39 weeks but it really seems Dr. dependent. I asked my Dr. about c-section rates for GD Mom's and he said that it is really rare they would need to give a Mom a c-section just because of GD.
@colleenm18 I have issues with granola. Even a tablespoon and it seems my levels are sky high.
Most of my meals have shifted to later times in the day based on my toddlers schedule. (We are just having breakfast as I'm writing this!) it works for me but means I usually end up not having a formal lunch but rather snacks like string cheese, almonds, thin sliced turkey and grapes or fruit. It eliminates a lot of the normal carb saturated lunch options like sandwiches.
I always have eggs for breakfast and it has always been my most difficult number to keep on target. I only allow myself 1 to 1 1/2 carb choices. Eggs, tortilla, cheese. Or English muffin with fried eggs and cheese. And hash browns. I can have as many shredded hash browns as I want as long as I have eggs also. I am so sick of eggs.
Dinners I am more open. Being summer I BBQ a lot. I skip the bun on hamburgers but I can have potato salad and pastas within serving sizes. The bread is just too much. Grilled chicken breasts are also something I grill and throw on salads or just eat that with veggies. The big bag at Costco, if you have access I believe it's the foster farms 10lb bag are really good without any seasoning. I stay away from sauces on almost everything, BBQ, teriyaki, etc. I didn't think about it and holy cow when I tested one night?!?!
Evening snacks I always skipped and my fasting was high 80s to mid 90s and that was fine by my targets. Through some of you gals, I learned that having some ice cream or fruit actually has helped my fasting numbers. I still stick to the no sugar added ice cream for the most part or weight watchers Ice cream bars have 5 carbs and both are pretty good.
Sorry this was long but if we can help others that may be struggling with numbers by sharing what works, I'm all for it! Even if it's nearly novel level...
About delivery, my doc is pretty relaxed from what I have read on here but she induced me at 39w4d last time. My numbers had always been pretty well controlled and I probably could have put off induction up to another week but I was done. I see no reason for an epidural if you want to go without. I will not have an epidural this time because the anesthesiologist last time was an idiot and I would rather not have to deal with that along with l/d and recovery. As long as baby isn't overly huge, I always hear 9ish pounds, then they should just let you have the vaginal delivery you want unless complications arise. Also don't get freaked out by the ultrasound measurements. My doc estimated dd to be close to 8 1/2 or even 9 pounds and she was 7lb2oz but I had a lot of fluid from the gd.
I hear women wanting no medical intervention such as iv, but from my moms experience with labor having an iv and not, get the iv for fluids. She said that she had no energy when it came time to push when iv was not recommended but having the iv and extra fluids really did make a difference and gave her the extra energy so she wasn't so exhausted. A little food for thought.
Unfortunately, I don't think the 1 hour numbers mean much. I got a 152 and failed the 3 hour. However, I have a friend that got higher on the 1 hour but passed the 3. I don't get it!
I had like 181 on the one hour and skipped the 3 hour. I am pretty confident I would pass the 3 hour just from my testing levels at home when I've had high after meal numbers. If I go over my 1 hour 140 maximum after meals, I test again at 2 hours and am typically rebounded below the 120 mark. Plus I almost always know when I'm going to test high, it's always because I've said I NEED that extra 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes and I don't balance the rest of the meal to compensate.

Looks like we're starting with diet and exercise.

I thought I passed my 3 hour test since no one called after 2 weeks, buy my midwife dropped the bomb on me at my appt. They should call me Monday to set up an appt to go over diet and testing my blood sugar. I also start weekly appts so I go see the midwife Thursday.

Blueberries! My dad's plants are in full force, but slowing down.
Just received my lab results on email and I failed the 3 hour very badly. With my first 2 pregnancies, I was diet controlled but I'm scared with numbers like this I won't be able to be.
