I hate fireworks.

Seriously.  I am over all the fireworks already!

If it wakes up my little one tonight I am going to go crazy.  Anyone else feeling my pain?

Re: I hate fireworks.

  • My girls have slept through them. Thankfully. But I do hate them. I don't like that the possibility is there that they will wake up every time one goes off. I think it helps that both girls sleep with music.
Fingers crossed your LO doesn't wake up tonight.

  • Agreed. I actually called the cops on my neighbors Saturday night because I wasn't about to risk having my kid woken up again. Fireworks are illegal in the city limit here, and they do it for several days around each holiday. They are really lucky this is the first time I've called...

  • We are surrounded by fireworks lovers in our neighborhood.  Thank goodness for the white noise machine!

We spend the days/evenings of July 4 week at a friends cottage about 15 minutes from our house.  DD takes her naps there and goes to bed, and then we get her up around 10:00 or 10:30 PM, drive home, and put her back to bed.  Last year, she slept through it.  This year, she was up and a bit chatty.  She liked the fireworks noise from the car, but when we got out at our house and saw the actual fireworks, she said, "Scared!  Inside!"  It was adorable.
  • @CourtandNate‌ I think people must not follow the law, same as around here. I know I've heard things like bottle rockets go off around here.

  • Michigan took down their ban on the larger fireworks recently. I am ready to egg the house of whoever approved that.

My neighbors were still at it last night (they must have got a new stockpile on sale). These are the kind that launch up into the air, like you see at community firework displays, plus mortars, shriekers, and dancing dragon type-things that crawl across the pavement. Around the 4th it was much worse- I live right on the border of Detroit, and the big East Side park where everyone goes to light up is two blocks away. Between my neighbors, the all night party at Balduck, and the geniuses who think firing off automatic weapons is a fun and festive thing, I was ready to pack it up and head over the river to Canada.
