Should I worry about my son having a head growth spurt between 6 and 9 months if the doctor isn't? 95%ile. Bigger heads are not uncommon in our family but I don't want to overlook any possible serious issues. I'm kicking myself for googling as I'm seeing things like autism, cancer and hydrocephalus. I'm also seeing that a good portion of babies are given cat scans and lots of worrying. almost always for no reason. Hopefully reassuring responses
My doc was way over protective and scheduled a sonogram for my 6 month old because his head had grown twice as much from the previous appointment. Everything came back fine. He just has a big head. I wouldn't worry unless your baby is showing serious signs of problems, but if he/she is a smiley, happy baby and your doctor had no concerns, I'm sure everything is fine.
