June 2011 Moms

Bought tampons for the 1st time in over a year...

I got my first PP period today - and I'm SO happy it was on a Sunday. I teach at a middle school and I had nightmares about being caught off guard and having to run to the school nurse with a sweater around my waist like some of my students!

For those of you that have already gotten your period - were they regular and somewhat predictable, or am I probably going to feel like I'm 12 years old again and never know when lightning will strike?

DH and I are hoping to get pregnant again by July. I'm 35 and I want to have my second (and more than likely last) child sooner as opposed to waiting a big longer in between. I'm debating starting charting this cycle just to see what's going on (DS sleeps from 10-7, thank you God, so I should get usable temps), and using that info to avoid until we're ready. Anyone else in the same boat?

  • Pretty predictable. Mine were lighter than before, but that is probably d/t the IUD.

Your poor students :( I remember being relieved that I got my first period during the night...having a blood stain at school would be so embarrassing.

If you get pregnant again, are you going to do an amnio? I planning on trying again around 32, and am terrified of the increased risks. Then again, I am a worrier.

Wishing you oodles of luck on conceiving your next LO ! ! !

  • I had one last month but skipped this month. I was freaked but took a test just to be sure. which was negative. I am still pumping 5-6 times a day, so the first one surprised me!!  It was less than average.  With DS, I didn't get one until I quit pumping at 7 months.  My mom said she had one then skipped with my brother so guess it runs in the family.  Hope it isn't too bad for ya!!

  • I haven't had one yet. We haven't decided if this one is "it" for us. This is our first together, but I have a DS (7) and SS (9) and SD (5). So four altogether. I'm 32 so if we have another go-round it would most likely be next year. I wouldn't mind mine showing up so I have an idea of what's going on.

  • I haven't had one yet either. I am a little concerned.  I have an IUD so that is probably why.

  • My friend with an IUD never has one.  She said she wouldn't even know if she was pregnant or not.  I think I wouldn't like that since I am such a worrier!
  • I bought a jumbo box right before my BFP so i'm good. lol
  • i'm a menstrual cup gal myself.  but i do still have some tampons lying around from the bathroom baskets at my wedding (about 7 years ago).  keep them for guests.  when dd1 was a crawling baby, she discovered the tampon drawer in the bathroom vanity.  and she thought they were the coolest thing!  at one point dh and i caught ourselves playing Monkey in the Middle tossing a tampon back and forth while dd1 scrambled between us trying to get it.  Big Smile

anyway, just something to consider.... if you are nursing, your milk supply will probably go down significantly if you get pregnant again.  i know mine did.
