warming bottles on the go

How do you ladies warm bottles on the go? Do you use a travel bottle warmer? If so, which one? My LO hates cold milk. Do you just use room temperature water bottles or what? I know this is a situation when breastfeeding is easier.

Re: warming bottles on the go

  • We don't warm bottles.  He drinks them cold or room temperature.

  • No warming here.  He often drinks milk right from the refrigerator.
  • I put the bottle between my boobs. I'm not even kidding.

  • I carry a thermos like one of the previous posts said.  But I forgot it once.  So I stopped at a Tim Hortons and asked for a cup of hot water to warm a bottle and they gave it to me for free.  If you don't specifically say it's to warm a bottle it will cost you the same amount as a cup of tea.

I breast feed, but when I had to give her a bottle once, I held it in between my legs. No joke.

  • No warming for us either. DS loves room temp bottles.

  • We do a comb of BM and F and so with the BM I pump before we leave and it is good though the first feed (usually 2-3 hrs into the excursion) then I switch to the on the go bottles that stay room temp no mixing or heating needed.

I also BF and DD only takes a bottle occasionally. If I know she is going to end up taking a bottle, I will pull one out of the fridge and just stick it right in the diaper bag so it will be warm by the time she takes it.

If I bring a bottle just in case but I'm not sure she's going to take it, I will bring the bottle in a cooler and put hot water in a travel coffee mug. I just set the bottle in the hot water for a couple minutes. A couple of times we have been at a restaurant and just asked them for hot water.

I have seen bottle warmers that plug into the car if you think you need it but I think there are a lot of other options.

  • I have found standing a bottle in hot water doesn't heat it enough especially as my LO is on quite big bottles, and I often have to take them straight out the fridge before we go out so they were cold to start with and take aaaages to heat up stood in hot water. So if I know I am going out I make up a bottle with the right amount of formula but with less water than it should be. Then I take out with me a little thermos flask of boiling water and if she gets hungry I use the water from the flask to top the bottle up to the right amount. That way the hot water that I add warms the whole bottle of cold milk up.
  • Prince lionheart makes a bottle warmer that is super easy to use. It's some kind of chemical reaction that heats up the pack that you place around the bottle. It has a holder that you put the chemical pack & the bottle in to insulate. To reuse you just boil the pack in water for a while & your ready to use again. So it is a one time use while out, but it's super nice since you don't need to plug it in or anything.
