I had my C-section last week and monday and have yet to produce any milk. We are going to see the LC tomorrow but I am just wondering if any other moms have experienced this. I know there is a delay in milk coming in when you have a section but I think a week post section is a bit long.
It took my milk 6 days to come in post-op. I supplemented with formula but continued to pump, nurse and remained optimist. Our bodies are amazing and are made to be mothers. Your milk will come. GL at tomorrow's appt!
If you want to BF, keep offering your breasts every 2 hours. That stimulation will help encourage your milk supply. Pumping may help too. GL with the appt.
I don't know if the CC has that much to do with it unless your having a c-section before your body started having contractions etc. My first I had an emergency c-section - pre-e and milk took 5 days to come in. Second C-section I went into labor early but milk came in the next day. Give it time and like others said keep offering the breast to stimulate production. Don't pump! It will just lead to over producing when your milk does come in.

Contractions have nothing to do with milk... Production is triggered when the hormones released by detachment of placenta hit your system AND you stimulate the breasts... Pumping could absolutely her esp if baby is not latching or more stimulation is needed... Causing Oversupply is the last thing she should worry about if there is no milk coming out a week after delivery... If anything, a bit of oversupply might be a good thing in such a situation.
harmonicbabe26 im just speaking in regard to my situation. When my son came early I pumped in the hospital for three days because I had no milk and when I got home two days later my milk came in and I ended up getting mastitis. Not everyone is the same. This is why I said I don't know.
