Cloth Diapering

Update on my NB CDing experience...

Ok, so P really put her first fitted to the test with a massive poo. The fitted leaked some from one leg, but it was contained by the cover. Woohoo!
And here is my first ever prefold attempt, it's a jelly roll. Not sure if I have the bottom piece of the snappi pulled tight enough. What say the pros?image

Re: Update on my NB CDing experience...

  • Yay!that looks good to me. You could probably even roll the legs in a tiny bit more on the insides to try to get did of some of he hat bulk. I forget how tiny newborns are....she is so cute!

  • Adorable!  Like Meesh said- you could roll up even more.  Otherwise looks great!  P makes my DD#3 look huge and she is still a peanut.

  • Hooray for fitteds and prefolds!
  • Too cute! I can't decide if A is outgrowing her infant sized prefolds or not. The wings are getting shorter, but I don't want to believe she's ready for the next size at 3 weeks!

Ok, so my first thought after nap was that the prefold didn't work. She was pretty wet. But, when I changed her, the whole prefold was soaked. So maybe she's a heavy wetter? Or maybe she just drank a lot and peed a lot during that nap? Or maybe the thirsties xs doesn't quite fit? I've got another one on her, and it's folded much better. So we will see.

I have no experience with the folds but I just wanted to say that she is so cute!!

  • I think those little prefolds can only hold so much, but go through a several feed/nap cycles and see if there's any variation. We went straight to yellows, which were a bit big initially, and only had a few truly saturated diapers each day. It wasn't unusual for us to: wake - change - feed one side - (poop - change) - feed other side - play a little bit - poop - change - nap and start over again. When we went through 2-3 diapers per cycle, there was rarely a chance for the diapers to get saturated.

If the prefold was soaked, you didn't do anything wrong. It might have been a fluke or she might just be ready for yellows. I want to say I read on GMD website that NB prefolds are outgrown faster than the NB workhorses. Like maybe a couple weeks earlier.

  • Did everything stay inside the cover? That's what's important.
  • She is so cute, TJ!  This makes me want to make a complete nb stash with every kind of diaper, lol.  I already have nb AIOs and P&Ns and I'm not even KU.  Next I need workhorses and nb prefolds!

  • Hmm .... well if it turns out you need more absorbency then you could always put a tri-folded prefold between the fitted and cover or between a snappi'd prefold and cover. Or change more frequently. Or both.
  • I also put fleece wipes in to add absorbency. Plus I had a ton of them.

Great suggestions @freezorburn‌. I'm not going to wake her up to change her diaper! So I'll pursue the other options.

  • Did I send you any yellow edge prefolds? I can't remember what all fit in the box. I have tons and tons of yellows if you need them.
