  • I am 12w3d along, ms sickness has gone away! We told my side of the family at my cousins 9th bday party over the weekend. We had the baby give the bday boy a present. It was fun watching everyone try and figure out who was pregnant. They had no idea we were going thru IUI with DS, so they were very surprised and happy. Our NT scan is scheduled for tomorrow.

What is making me happy is that my SIL and BIL and their 4 kids are visiting from out of state and visiting for the entire month of June.
  • Check-In: Not much really going on here. My Icelandic clinic is brilliant, better than my UK clinic I think. They are giving me another U/S at 10 weeks as well, which my Uk clinic wasn't going to do. I've just got my beta results back for 9 weeks and its all good! I've actually decided I'm going to tell everybody when I get back to London, I was swithering about keeping stum until 16 weeks, but I feel bad not telling my parents at least.

QOTW: Being in Iceland. I really, really wish I could afford to live here all the time, but its so expensive. I love it here though, so much.

  • I wish I had something new to update but I don't.  I still haven't heard back from the donor agency about the potential 3rd donor.  I sent them an email a little bit ago asking for an update.  I also told them that if I'm unable to match with this prospect we need to talk about getting our agency fee refunded so we can move on to a different agency that has several prospects we like.   Except I just went through my old emails and our #1 choice gal with the other  agency is now out of the country until August.  Today is my 44th birthday and I just really really wanted to be pregnant in time to give birth before my 45th.   I don't think that's likely to happen at this point.  I frankly feel like this isn't meant to be and am questioning why we're even trying this.      Last year I miscarried on my birthday.  This year it's this.   :::::shrugs:::::

QOTW:  DH and I spent all day Saturday in the car driving in the mountains, picking random forest service roads to explore. It took my mind off of things for a little while, which I really needed.

Hugs Jimbob. It's so stressful trying to get all this to work out especially when you add in yor own personal deadlines (I wanted a baby before 40 but I'll be 41 when these, guys are born. It's just a number --keep telling yourself! I hope you hear back soon.

@MrsMcirish, Glad things are going well!  I second the sea bands!
@jalara, I'm sorry things aren't going the way you expected with the clinic... But am really glad your niece is doing so well!
@brooklynesque, you are getting so close
@becky P, I have everything crossed for good news!
@jimbob,  so sorry about the donor delay.  I hope it all gets figured out soon!   While I did not have the issues with the donor, I had failed cycles and I know how frustrating the wait time can be...  I can't imagine having the difficulties you are having with getting started... I'm hoping everything works out and soon!

Big hugs to anyone who needs them that I may have missed.

update:  Nothing much to report... My older son is finished with school for the year and is home with us and loving hanging out with his twin brothers.  Still struggling with digestive issues with one of the twins that does not seem to be getting better quickly...

  • Congrats to the recent BFPs, FX for those cycling, and hugs to those that need it.

Not too much to update here. Mostly we are just waiting on our appointment with Dr. KK in August. We decided to move forward with the privately donated frozen eggs and I have all of the info to our lawyer who will draw up our transfer of ownership agreement. I am debating, depending on Dr. KK's results, seeing about doing a fresh IVF along with our frozen cycle. I've read that some immunology issues can cause egg quality problems. This could explain why despite being "young" (31) and having normal FSH and AMH levels, my egg quality is crap.

QOTW: Honestly right now I am not in the happiest of places. I am hoping that DH and I can enjoy our summer off without treatments, but it feels like things keep getting in the way.

    Hey ladies,

@ceemonkey - so very very sorry about your last cycle. Any idea when you'll be able to try again??

@BeckyP005‌ - I am so hopeful for you!!!

@mrsmcirish - hope you feel better soon!!

@Twinkie0612‌ - the waiting is the worst... I have a really hard time with the waiting. I'm glad you have a few options to consider... Hope you do end up enjoying some of the summer-

@liz4paws - so happy all is well-

Update- my current RE's only recommendation is to transfer our last 2 frozen embryos together. I have decided to hold off on the immunology consult for now. I'm meeting with one of my former REs next week. He is familiar with reproductive immunology, so at least he doesnt have a prejudice to it, like my current RE. Either way, I need to get a 2nd opinion before the next transfer, for my peace of mind. Also repeating my sonohystogram this month-

Other than that, my husband and I are doing a lot of soul searching and thinking of our next steps, assuming it doesn't work out with our last 2.

Qotw - I'm kinda a miserable mess right now, but the warmer weather helped a bit.

    Me (32) DOR, elevated NK Cells/ 2 copies of MTHFR mutation/ MH (35) azoo/high DFI   (TTC#1 since 2009)

    DS IVF: (11/12) - BFN

    DE/DS IVF#1: (10/13) - 2 day 3 embies transferred-BFFN

    FET of 2 day 6 blasts: (12/13) - c/p

    DE/DS IVF #2: (4/14) - 1 day 5 blast transferred...BFFN...again.

    FET 5/14: 1 day 5 hatching blast transferred...another BFFN

Repeat SHG 6/14-normal / Endometrial Receptivity Array biopsy 7/14-Receptive Uterus

New RE, additional testing reveals elevated NK Cells

FET of 1 day 5 blast (RE recommends transferring 1 due to elevated NK cells) with lovenox, steroids & intralipids in October

  • Hi all.
HUGE hugs to those who need them. Lots of great news around here, and lots of crappy news too. So goes IF, but it sure sucks to be on the crappy side. :(

    PAIF'er:

Tomorrow I am 30w - and it's my 43rd birthday - all in one! I usually am so excited about my bday but this year, meh, I've got bigger fish frying I guess. Still I'm excited and happy to see my family and have a little gathering. I told my sisters to get me some stuff off the registry, so they did which is cool.

The whole gestational diabetes thing is wearing on me. I know it's not the end of the world, but it is a lot to manage (I am up to 8 pokes a day - 3 insulin, 4 blood sugar tests plus my lovenox). And when you eat well and your numbers are still off, it is defeating. I feel bad for the baby!! That said, usually only one number or maybe two per day are 'off'. We'll see how she's growing next u/s is on 6/19.

QOTW: I think getting closer to ending work (Aug 1) and my due date is pretty exciting! We started childbirth ed classes which is making things feel 'real' too. I am still not always 100% confident that nothing will go wrong, but trying to trust all is good! Our weather in Seattle has been California sunny, so definitely that has been a joy!
    Lil'mamaz was born on Aug 21, 2014! She's PERFECT!

  • Hi Girls! Big hugs to all who need them, especially @JimBobCooter & @km672. I hope you start to feel better @Mrs.McIrish. @BeckyP005, FX hard for you!!! Good luck with stims @rafeek1! Congrats on the niece & I'm so glad to hear you can help your sister out like that @jalara. @kushie77, the rescue dog sounds like a great way to put a smile on your face! That's exactly what we did last summer. I was bumming hard that we had no control over when I got pregnant, but dammit, I could control it if we got another dog. Best decision ever!! @Twinkie0612, I'm so curious about the stuff you read on improving egg quality if you treat certain immunological issues. PM me if you care to share.

AFM, we're getting excited to start looking at profiles in July for egg donors. Hopefully we'll be ready to cycle in October. In the meantime, I'm trying so hard to put it all out of my mind and live my life happily. I'm not going to lie, it is a challenge!

QOTW: my dogs of course :) They always put a smile on my face!

    TTC since March 2012
Dx: Unexplained IF, Arcuate Uterus, Minimal Endometriosis, Poor Embryo Quality
Tx History: 1 Injects+TI, 5 IUIs, 3 IVFs, 1 FET = all BFN and full of heartbreak
Plan: Waiting to see if our potential donor is a match for DE IVF #1

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
  • @daydreamer34254 I think the things that can cause egg quality issues are things like inflamation or decreased bloodflow to the ovaries, but when I get me test results, egg quality is something I plan to talk about.

    PAIF/SAIF Welcome!

  • Super late as always but I'm here!  AF started on June 6th.  We are doing a mock cycle with Dr. Duffy before transferring anything again.  He wants to see for himself what's going on down there before transferring again.  We will be doing a trial transfer and also Kliman's Endometrial Function Test to make sure I'm on the best protocol for my body to prepare for implantation.

I'm on more meds for this mock cycle then I was for the entire FET.  I was surprised by that.

The last thing that made me happy was last night.  I went to my friend's home and she taught me how to make a fleece blanket.  It's my favorite :)

  • The last month has been a whirlwind!  But also a lot of waiting.  DH & I met our donor the week prior to the transfer.  It was incredible!  Spent four hours with her & her mother.  Took photos, exchanged stories.  Couldn't have asked for a better donor!  The next week was the transfer at ORM.  We were patients of Dr. Bankowski, but he wasn't working the weekend our transfer was scheduled, so we got told about four days prior that we would have Dr. Hesla.  A little thrown, we continued on. Transfer went well.

    Beta Test results listed warning

This past Tuesday we found out the official BHCG number - 100 & then two days later 192. Fingers crossed.

Our surrogate is having a horrible rash reaction to the progesterone shots, so they are changing her to the oral instead.  Hoping they will do another Beta test next week just to make sure the change in medication doesn't effect anything.

QOTW - Snuggling with my dog makes me happy.  Throughout this stressful process her snuggling makes me smile.

I also have to say you all are AWESOME!  And that makes me smile too.

  • Forgot to add one more thing.  So 16 eggs were retrieved, 12 matured & 7 fertilized.  6 made it.  The transferred one 5AA & then froze two 4AA's & one 3AA.  Was nerve racking when we found out the low numbers, but looks like the ones that made it are strong.  Now if those survive being frozen for down the road when we try again or donate, it will be even better.
  • GL to everyone cycling! I met with the RE this weekend. AF came on Friday, so we are now jumping right back in and planning an FET with our 2 remaining blasts. Transfer date will be in early July.

  • I haven't been posting lately. Trying not to obsess. But an update...last IUI was cancelled due to a cyst. Have another scheduled for June 23rd. Dr put me on femera and follistim this cycle instead of clomid. I go to dr Friday for US and BW. Hope we can do this this time!
