So about 1030 Saturday night, we hear this odd noise followed by squealing tires.....I figured local "kids" were at it again (showing off for friends) so I didn't look out the window. A few minutes later, the neighbor knocked on our door to tell us that a pickup truck hit our car.....it hit the car hard enough on the driver's side that it left a dent on driver's side AND pushed whole back end a good foot up onto the curb stripping the tire from the rim in the process. Waiting until sun is up to access damage but have filed police report.

Personally I am glad dh's car was there. We live at a T intersection right where the 2 lines meet. Cars have blown through the stop sign and at least twice that we know of, cleared the yard and hit the house. Scary part is, if dh had parked in driveway behind my car, it is possible the truck would have hit the house a few feet from dh's head. (We park the car there intentionally for that reason). Dh has been wanting to put a few car stopping boulders in the yard but didn't have them high on priority list...I think they just got bumped up higher. FWIW, the times a vehicle has hit the house were before dh bought it. No, the neighbor wasn't able to get plate info but he did give the cop a good description of the truck. Now that the sun is up, I can take a photo and have people be able to see something other than shades of grey and black.

Wow that's scary! Is your yard pretty well lit? That and maybe some reflectors on or around the boulders you put up would probably help too. Hope you can get the car fixed quickly without too much hassle.

We live in a residential neighborhood about a mile from the university with plenty of street lights....problem is too many drunk students rather than not enough visibility.

I am sorry. That happened to DH a few years back. It ended as a hit and run too but in the end the driver was found but nearly totaled DH's car
