Sleep training poll. :)

I was thinking about that very sad poem someone posted about a baby who's upset in bed because mom doesn't come to get them anymore... Remember that? Well, yes, back in the day reading that disturbed me! The board was heavily anti sleep training and then the tables seemed to have turned. So just curious!

Tried to edit to add the word "train" to first option but no dice.

Re: Sleep training poll. :)

  • SS: tried but it didn't work. At all. I might have to try again as I wean, though, since nursing to sleep will not always be possible.

  • That post is the exact reason I didn't sleep train. I think of it all the time. This week I started weaning from night feeds and it has been amazing for his sleep! But I cuddle and kiss when he cries and wakes up. I can't help it.
  • I never said never as I do in all things parenting. I haven't been disciplined enough to sleep train, but I keep saying we need to as Lo is a crappy sleeper.

  • Never was against it. I had to with DD2 or she would probably still be waking up multiple times a night at almost 4. I did do it with DS and it was quick and relatively painless.
  • I said I wouldn't and haven't. Lately she's gone down by 8 and is sleeping until 6. Now that she's one, I plan to night wean and if she regresses at all, I will before I the next school year starts.

  • SS: Never said I wouldn't sleep train, said I'd wait to see what he needed. Turns out he needed to be sleep trained and now he sleeps very well *knock on wood*

  • And just so you can compare the results now to back in April ...

  • I had no issues with sleep training, figured I'd wait and see if we needed it. She actually made the switch on her own from nursing to sleep to lying down awake and going to sleep on her own. Like @sctiger‌, we still have to night wean. She used to sleep through the night, but now we are up at least once.

  • I voted SS because I never said "never". I said I hoped I wouldn't need to, but it turned out that after 6-7 months of being nursed to sleep every night and for every nap she had absolutely no way of knowing how to soothe herself. After object permanence reared it's ugly head I had to do something. She started waking up every 2 hours after a long stretch of STTN, so we did CIO for 2 bedtimes (still nursed her when she woke up once in the MOTN) and she has STTN ever since. *knock on wood*

  • I don't fit your poll.  I'd always said I'd be willing to sleep train if she needed it and we did sleep train.

  • Ss. I never said he wouldn't and we just started this week. LO was waking up every night and not hungry but more of just trying to see us and then eventually be in our bed. I hope I don't jinx us but we are on 4 nights of STTN and it has been GLORIOUS!!! I have moments when I feel bad for letting her cry but when I wake her up in the morning, I can tell she's sleeping good so that makes up forit

  • SS: didnt do it yet, need to figure something out before there are two babies crying in the night.

This, this exactly! The thought of two babies up at the same time or one right after the other scares the shit out of me.
