Postpartum fatigue???

Hello,
I know not to treat this site as a replacement for a doctor but I would like to know stories if any other mom has experienced this. My baby is 11 weeks old and I feel wiped out and without motivation to do anything. I get 3-4 hour blocks of sleep but stay up late at night (I don't feel sleepy then I don't know why) when my baby and husband go to sleep. I am totally in love with my baby and make sure she is good  everyday, it seems the only thing I feel motivated to do is take care of her and make dinner. I thought that by now I would be feeling more like myself instead I'm in a fog. I drink coffee but feel no different (it has not affected my baby's sleep at all).

Re: Postpartum fatigue???

  • I am 2 weeks PP and I think that going for walks and giving myself one thing to accomplish each day (even if it's just a load of laundry and making some phone calls to friends) makes me feel connected and normal. I think that getting some sunlight and doing some things you did before baby will help you adjust to new life with baby.

  • Fog and sleep issues can be related to PPD, especially of you are also feeling unmotivated. I would try getting out of the house at least once a day and definitely call your doc and mention this as well. Of its nothing more than exhaustion, great, but if it is the start of something more, best to catch it as soon as possible.

  • Good call ladies I didn't realize that was a symptom of ppd but now that you mention it totally makes sense. Do what pp said and call your dr.
