Floss those teeth!

So I discovered the joy that is pregnancy gingivitis this week. It came on very suddenly after a nap on Wednesday and has been making its way across my gum line now.

I must say, I have been having flashbacks to a couple of months ago when my TTT included something about how the Rockies hate oral hygiene because toothpaste and mouthwash would reliably make me vomit. That has only recently subsided, but yeah....

Thankfully I have a relatively mild case. The dentist isn't super concerned and has recommended salt rinses plus some antiseptic mouthwash a couple times a day. If it gets worse he will prescribe a stronger one. Luckily I had a cleaning about 8 months ago so I am not super overdue for one....

All that said, this is so annoying! And painful! If anything scares me into flossing the rest of my life this will be it! I had no idea how irritating this relatively common pregnancy side-effect could be. Prevent it if you can!

Also, bedrest when you can't eat comfortably is really less fun than bedrest surrounded by lots of tasty food

I hope it gets better for you! I floss every morning, even if I really don't want to. I got into the habit a few years ago and now I can't stand it if I don't. I'm trying to get C on the flossing train, but no luck so far. It doesn't help that at her cleaning, the hygienist told her how great her teeth are, etc. She never flosses and that wasn't helpful in getting her to start.

I hate going to the dentist and was putting it off while pregnant, but ended up having some pain and needed a filling.  It sucked, but I did it because I didn't want further problems.  My mouth was sore for almost a week after I had the filling done :-(  I am not religious about flossing, but I do it most days.  I keep flossers in my purse and also in a drawer in the living room for after dinner.
