Boy Name: Callaway

FTM and I'm nervous about naming our boy. My husband really, really wants to name our son Callaway. I don't know how I feel about it. I think we could NN as Cal. Last name starts with a K and sounds kind of like canoe? Thoughts?

I don't care for it. It just seems like too much name for some reason. It's better as a surname. Have you considered Calvin?

I like it. It may sound sort of feminine, but I support gender-ambiguous names for boys.

I don't think it is a good idea to make your hobby part of your child's name. I don't golf, but I instantly thought of golf when I read your subject line.

I'd assume you'll name your second son Titleist. Or Ping. Not a fan. Calvin is super though!

I don't like it.  It too easily goes to the company and golf.  I'd scratch and find something better.

Caelan (Cay-Lan) is another idea if you want something uncommon.  Or Callan, Kellan, Collin.

I don't like it either. I might be biased though because there's a restaurant in my town named callaways so it makes me think of that.

Haha, it totally does sound like a cartoon character! My last name is quite a bit different, I'm just so bad about doing the "sounds like" name thing. Thanks everyone for the feedback!
