Heat rash?

Started getting this rash yesterday. It's itchy. Have any of you ladies experienced this.

Re: Heat rash?

  • I have the same rash on my arms & belly.. unsure of what it could be. I haven't been in the sun or heat much. I tried dr google but didn't find anything. Think I will ask my dr monday since its really itchy :(

I have my doctors appointment until Thursday, but if it gets worst I'm going to go in earlier. I'm not in the heat or sun that much also.

I had a weird rash a few weeks ago that started in my torso and spread over my entire body. (I'd link to my thread but I'm on mobile atm) I called a nurse and she thought since it wasn't itchy it was probably a seasonal allergic reaction that was amplified because of pregnancy. It all cleared up within a week when I started taking Claritin and using an Aveeno lotion. Is yours itchy? Hot to the touch? Mine wasn't itchy but it was warm.

Eta: sorry! I see now you said it IS itchy

  • I've been dealing with a rash and itching for weeks. The doctor has so far told me that it's just a normal pregnancy rash and sent me for a cholestasis test, which I'm waiting on results from. I've found that for my body the BEST thing is using grandpas pine tar soap, which has reduced the rash dramatically and helped with the itch and then using either aveeno eczema therapy or gold bond itch relief. I hope you find relief soon, I know how brutal the itching can be!

  • I've had this!!! My Dr called it PUPP or PUPP he told me it's common in your first pregnancy and also with multiples. It comes on in your 3rd trimester. Mine itched like nothing I've ever felt before, and I'm deadly allergic to poison ivy & poison oak! My Dr actually called me in cream because the OTC creams and oatmeal baths weren't touching the itching!! Mine is soooo much better now. Hope you find relief soon! Oh and he told me it will completely go away after the baby comes!

I had PUPPP rash in my first pregnancy, it was miserable.  Thankfully, it hasn't recurred with pregnancies 2 and 3 (at least not so far this time).

Yes!!! It's the worst!!! And I just realized I left off a P!
  • OMG! My doctor just told me that I have this. :( The insane itching started a few days ago, and I someone assumed it was just bug bites that had gotten out of control. I had never heard of PUPPPs before. For some reason for me, this is worse than morning sickness. The idea of not having 100% itch relief is maddening! I wouldn't wish this on anyone!

In reading the August 2014 board, they recommended using ice packs to cool the swelling and wearing tight clothes that don't rub. Legging are going to be my new uniform!

  • I have this on my arms. My OB told me it is PUPPP and recommended I take Zyrtec in the morning and Benedryl at night to control the itchiness. It sucks.

  • I've had a rash that looks just like PUPPPS for almost 2 weeks that is FINALLY mostly cleared up now (so my dr doesn't think it's PUPPPS). Cold packs helped me not itch it and I also showered at least twice a day with a product called Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap. That gave me the MOST relief!! I got it at Whole Foods for ~$5. Kind of expensive for soap but totally worth it for the itch relief. I got in the shower, lathered up with the soap, and then scrubbed with a washcloth or loofa. That way I got to scratch a little but with something that wouldn't cut me like my fingernails!

I had to take oral steroids for the rash to go away but the pine tar soap was the only way that I was able to sleep or get any relief. It definitely got worse in heat so I kept a fan blowing on me at night. I also take a Claritin every day and she said I could take Benadryl at night if I'm really having a hard time sleeping.
