Total AW: 20w A/S Yesterday (and a rant)

My babies look perfect. I had a good case of hives by the time I arrived for the scan, I was so freaking nervous. But I have to admit, I was really nice to lay there for an hour and get a good look at them. I could do that all day long. All system were functioning and nothing looked amiss. A is 11oz and B is 10oz and measured right on track. And the icing on the cake was finding out the sex. Both my boys were more than happy to show their goods! I am a momma of 3 boys! Eek! I could not be any happier! Oh, and major cervix brag - it was 4.45. Wow, I am shocked!

There is where my rant starts. Why are other people disappointed for me that I don't have a girl? I am not disappointed in the slightest. My 3 boys will only be 20 months apart. What fun they will have and what good friends they will be. I love my son with all my heart and love being a boy momma, so this was great news to me. Why can't it be great news to others? I know my mom is disappointed (she doesn't have to say it directly to me) because she always says "every woman needs a daughter" but even a lady in the dr's waiting room had to get in on my and DH's conversation and asked if we knew what we were having so we told her and she said - I kid you not - "I bet you were hoping for a girl". I actually wasn't, you witch, I just want these babies to be healthy and stay put for as long as they can so F off. Then to top if off all the ladies at my son's daycare were all visibly disappointed when I told them. I got a couple of "you've got to be kidding me" remarks from them. WTF? Why do you care? I sometimes can't stand people. End rant.

I am literally tickled blue and have finally gotten all giddy and excited. Hearing that they are healthy and that we are moving along well makes my heart soar with happiness and pride!

People suck. I got comments like that too. (I have boys and feel no need for a girl.) my aunt told me "2 girls are the best case scenario. 2 boys are the worst case." WTF. My friends with all girls get the same comments about how they need a son so it's not unique to boy moms at least. People are just ridiculous about having a "balanced" family among many other things.

so so so happy for you!!! I'm definitely jealous of that great cervical measurement!

When they told us we were having two boys, people made comments like, "oh I bet your husband is happy!" and were sort of shocked when I said that, actually, he was really hoping to have a little girl. People are just, as PP mentioned, ridiculous.

That said, I'm so glad your anatomy scan went well! Ours is Tuesday and I am already starting to get nervous.. we didn't do any of the genetic bloodwork, but everything has looked great so far. It's just hard not to worry.

Thanks and GL! I know how nerve wracking it is, it is hard not to worry, but we have to try and stay positive, right? I will keep you in my T&PS!

Congrats on a great a/s and the boys! I don't understand people, especially a stranger in the waiting room? commenting on shit like that. Sorry you have to deal with those reactions.

I had two boys before my twins boys so I know exactly what your talking about, one of the gramma's was even angry at me for not finally giving her a granddaughter. And not a single person seemed to be happy that I was having twin boys, except DH. He wanted to throw a party, he was so happy to not have any girls. The possibility of a girl baby terrifies the man! Well I love all my boys and wouldn't trade any of them for a girl! NOW if I could get a guarantee that the next one would be a girl I WOULD go for number 5...but yeah, it would be a boy so nope, im done

I haven't found out the sex of my twins yet but I already have a boy. I would love to have 2 more boys. And I think we might be done after these two so if we don't have a girl I will be 100% happy. I think boys are awesome. Congrats on your 3 boys!

I feel you.  DS will be turning two right around the time his little brothers arrive.  We had openly planned to stop at two kids, so all of our family knew that we are done with a bonus baby.  As soon as baby A showed his goods, I just knew they were both going to be boys!  I think DH and I were both a little sad that we would never get to experience having a daughter, but we could never be disappointed in our boys!  I'm so excited for how much fun we are going to have with three boys so close in age.  I also don't understand why it seems like girls are the preferred sex to have right now.  I think a lot of women fantasize that having a little girl means they will have this little mini me/ BFF.  But, I know a ton of women who don't have anywhere close to that relationship with their own mothers.

My family was super gracious when we told them we were having two more boys.  My mom said that she just knew it was two boys.  My dad said that a girl would have been fun, but he was excited about 3 little ranch hands to help him.  Bonus points to my brother's fiancé who responded to the news by yelling "Yes!!!"  My MIL on the other hand responded with "oh no!", and "Are they sure?", followed by "Can it Change?"  Grrrr.

I also get negative responses from strangers.  I had one lady ask if I had wanted two girls or a boy and a girl like she couldn't fathom someone wanting three boys.

I had a set of girls and I get "ohh, that's gonna be expensive." Or "how many bathrooms do you have? You'll need more with all those girls!"
People blow sometimes. They also look at my only son, with his 3 sisters, and say "poor guy." Um no. He loves his big sister so much and kisses his twins daily. Plus, he will have dates for every prom from their friends. He's a-ok.
I don't get it- why people think there's a perfect family ratio and number.

And yes, people suck. I bet we would've gotten tons of comments if we were having two girls instead of a boy and a girl. I'm sorry you had to deal with people being rude. Three boys will be so much fun!

In all honesty, DH really wanted a boy, so I do think if we were having two more girls he would've been a bit bummed, but we would still love them and be excited. In the end, what we (and I'm sure all of us) really want is just babies that come home with us, whether they have a penis or a vagina.

I can understand the feeling of brief sadness for *parents* if they were really hoping for the opportunity for one or the other or one of each (I would hope they don't feel disappointment toward one or more of the children they do have!! I just understand feeling disappointed at "missing" an experience you'd hoped to have)... but that's about as far as it goes. No one else has any right being disappointed or criticizing.. we aren't living in the dark ages. The sex of your kids doesn't determine whether they can pass on your family name or bring home an income or hunt for the family or go off to war to defend the country... LOL

First off congratulations on your two healthy boys and the awesome cervix length, something to celebrate for sure!  And I think it's wonderful that you will have three boys so close in age!!!  You are going to have a blast watching them grow up together!

I have two girls and they are my only children.  While I can't completely relate (since i don't have a third or am pregnant) I got the same sort of comments when I would tell people I was having two girls.  I actually got some pretty disgusting comments...most feeling "sorry" for my husband.  Guess what?  He LOVES having two girls and so do I!  Why do people think the "perfect" family has one of each?  That's just ridiculous!  So, utterly stupid.  Try not to let people get you down and celebrate your three boys!

Congratulations!!!! I am having two boys as well to make me a mamma of three boys! Couldn't be more excited!!! I just ignore people's crazy comments....deep down I was hoping for 2 more boys and got my wish!!

People are so dumb and rude. It's like they need to say something and something dumb and pointless comes out of their mouth. I think it's perfectly natural to either have a preference for the sex of your babies or to really not have a preference - however that's a very personal thing and certainly not something I'd want to discuss with anyone other than very close friends.

Congrats on your boys and cervix length. Ugh to stupid people. When I was pregnant with the twins most people were hoping I had b/g twins since most knew Dh and I were only having 2. Boy was mil disappointed when she heard it was 2 girls. I was over the moon. Then the jokes about number of bathrooms started and poor Dh. Dh loves our girls. This time around everyone was praying I am pregnant with a boy. Well it is a boy and they were all oh thank god it's a boy. Like it would have been the end of the world if we had another girl. I would have loved another girl just as much as this little boy. People need to shut their faces. Sorry this makes me angry.

@megs2011 Ha! Everyone thinks we are done too but secretly we still have one 6 day frozen blast that is picture perfect so while we wont do a fresh IVF cycle we may do a FET on it one day just to see what happens. I would never tell anyone else this I knew you all would understand. Thanks for the kind words and congrats!

I totally feel for you. When we found out we were having two girls I was excited and my husband was excited but his family took the news horribly. Everyone knew the plan had been to only have two kids regardless of the sexes but they immediately started talking about how we'll have to try again to get a boy. My husband isn't even that close to his family but they really came out of the woodwork to express their disappointment. I was annoyed but it's not my family so whatever, but my husband was really hurt and offended that no one was excited for his daughters.

I'm almost 31 weeks and it seems like they've more or less gotten over their initial disappointment and I'm hoping it doesn't surface again once the girls get here.
