Wednesday Appointments

Re: Wednesday Appointments

  • 38w3d Appointment at 9:15 nothing special I don't think. We might talk about being induced next week due to baby looking big but I'm unsure I want to even take that rout.

Ultrasound at 5:30 EST to see if baby has in fact gone breech on me. REALLY hoping she hasn't and that the doctor was just wrong in not feeling her head down low. I wish it wasn't so late in the day because it's making me crazy all day wondering, but at least I get one last peek at her before her debut (however she comes out)!! Update: My doctor was wrong, she IS head down. I've never been so excited at the idea of labor and delivery!

Regular weekly appointment today, will probably do a cervical check.  I feel like LO has dropped a bit and have been having crampy back pain, so I'm just curious to see if it's caused any progress.
  • regular appointment today at 3:45. I dont think they will do a cervical check because I had one last week and was already dilating and my OB doesn't want to be messing thing around up there!

I have started to have the bad itchy hands and feet (had ICP with my DD) so I am guessing they will draw blood for that, but I am hoping to get a lot of answers from my OB about how we are going to move forward. I am a week away from the "danger zone" for ICP - and blood test can take up to a week to get results so that makes me fairly nervous.

I guess I am just mostly unsure what they will do since with DD I was diagnosed and delivered withing 24 hours.

  • Was supposed to have appt tomorrow, but doc squeezed me in today due to some strong contractions I had last night, even though they've since calmed down and become irregular again.  I'm 37 weeks 3 days today. Anyhow, at last week's check I was 1 cm and 20% effaced...today was 3 cm and 50% effaced.  Trying not to get too excited, as I know women walk around for weeks with these stats, but still happy there's been some forward momentum!
  • I'm 36w 4d. Had my GBS testing done. Also, they said baby is 7#4oz estimated. Kinda scares me bc I was a week late with both my other boys and they were 7#6oz and 7#8oz. But my fluids and everything are good. Hopefully he won't get super huge!

    Good luck ladies!

Had my 34 week appointment today, last cervical length and a surprise growth ultrasound (third one in a row, not sure why?). My cervix is one centimeter from being concerning so there is no verdict one way or another if I will make it to term. Growth ultrasound is still showing a large baby that's measuring 3-4 weeks ahead and almost 7lbs.

Since I was the first appointment of the day, doctor came in quick. We reviewed my recent trip to L&D for PTL but she decided not to check me this week, which I'm fine with. Then once again we had the large baby horror story conversation and all the things that can happen if I am still pregnant at the end of June. We went over c-sections, forceps, vacuums and shoulder injuries and I had to sign some things saying I understood it.  She then let me know she would be out of town till Monday and I made an appointment for next week.

Honestly, I don't know what I am supposed to feel. I really want to see this pregnancy out to the end and let things run their course, if its a safe option. I suppose the best I can do is continue to take this one day at a time and deal with whatever cards we get dealt.

I wish everyone else the best at their appointments today. Happy Healthy Babies!

I had my weekly BPP today and baby passed with flying colors. Then I had my regular appointment after that. My blood pressure was 180/110 sitting up and 150/80 laying down even with my increased meds. Because of this and all my swelling and other issues, they want me to deliver next week at 37 and 3.

They did a cervical check and found that A) nothing is going on down there making me not favorable for induction, and B) that the way my body is shaped with the extra weight I am carrying a vaginal delivery would be more risky than a c-section. My OB practice had apparently already discussed my case at high risk rounds this morning and were all in agreement with early delivery if my BP was still elevated. My doctors suggested an amniocentesis to see if the baby's lungs were developed and to try to get the perinatologists on board with their plan, but turned out they were already thinking this and so I don't need the amnio. Thank goodness.

Long story short: I am scheduled for a section next Thursday at 10:30 AM. I honestly knew this would be a possibility with the GD and PIH, but I thought because he was measuring average that I might be able to try vaginally, so that is disappointing. However, they are concerned for both of our safety, so I know this is the right route. Only two more appointments left and 7 more days of bed rest!

@kahorstman‌ No blood clot I hope?
No clot, surface skin infection. Everything swollen plus sweat and sitting all day = infection. So cream to help heal it and prescription of "no pants" and "no shaving", get to go back on Friday for u/s and general check to make sure she's head down :-)

I had an awful experience today.  My doctor snapped at me for declining a cervical check at 37w6d. He then informed me he'd seen 3 babies and 1 mother die during VBACs and he doesn't want that for me. Yeah, that's exactly what you should tell a patient of yours that wants a VBAC.

**Oh, and he mentioned possibly stripping my membranes today as a reason to do the cervical check!
