39+5 no dilation 70%effaced

Any chance I won't need an induction on the 29th if I'm still closed and not dilated yet? I really hope everything starts ramping up in the next week! FTM here.

It can happen at any time. Don't worry at all. I've been sitting for weeks at 3cm and 60% effaced. With my first, I had her at 39+5 and was barely 1cm when I got to the hospital, despite strong contractions for several hours at 2 minutes apart. My body took a bit to get started, but then it dilated at a good pace and everything went well. I had no signs ahead of time

As PP said, anything can happen!  I will keep my fingers crossed for you.  I'm not sure how much I really believe in them, but you may want to try natural ways to get things started!  For example, walking around every day, eating spicy foods, trying sex, etc...

Effacement is more important than dilation at this point.

I too am in the exact position. Due in 2 days and nervous. Doing all I know to dilate but likely induction next week. Good luck mommas!
