I just want to vent/rant about the cloth diaper "experts" in my area. There are two women in my city who are the experts because one runs the cloth diaper service, and the other has a CD store out of her house and makes and sells detergent and stripper out of her house. These women are both experienced, and can give good advice to moms with issues and those just starting out.
HOWEVER- it drives me crazy the way that most of the other moms see them as the ONLY ones who know anything and that they are always right about everything. Sometimes their advice isnit the only answer (or even the right one), and I think that people forget that these are business women, are they are trying to grow their businesses and make money!
Their answer to almost EVERYTHING is that you need to strip, either with the professional service, or with the stripper sold by the WAHM. She tells everyone that you need to strip ONCE A MONTH- but of course the only way to do that is with her stripper (She seems to not believe in Hot water, in any situation)
Any detergent problem can only be solved by buying the detergent SHE makes and sells, which she says is "specially formulated for our city's extremely hard water". Our city does not have extremely hard water, according to our water company and all anecdotal evidence I have seen.
Don't get me wrong, I know we are lucky to have these resources here, but they are just a bit biased IMO.

Re: diaper "experts"
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.

But I also think there is a lesson in this for anyone who is giving out advice, which is simply that sometimes the right thing to do is admit that you don't have all the answers. Who knows, maybe something that is widely accepted on this board could turn out to be poor advice down the road. And hopefully we would welcome the opportunity to improve our knowledge rather than insisting we are right and know everything. I think the current regulars are actually pretty good about this.
