So frustrated

Alexis keeps getting a reoccurring staff infection since she was 9 months old. She keeps getting put on antibiotics that will get rid of it, but then it comes back a few weeks later. Right now she has a pretty nasty case of it. She has probably been on antibiotics at least once a month since 9 months. I am worried she is going to grow an immunity to the antibiotics. I am also worried about the twins getting exposed when they are born if we haven't gotten rid of it yet.

Re: So frustrated

  • Definitely go see a specialist. They'll probably know more about it and a better way to help her. Poor little munchkin :(

We were sent to a dermatologist and after several visits he finally cultured it and confirmed staff. At the last appointment he said it would probably keep coming back and to call for a prescription when it comes back. I tried getting an appointment since it is so bad this time, but they couldn't get her in till June, so they called in a script. We are moving this summer and we will be closer to a bigger city so hopefully we can find a better doctor there.

  • Poor girl!  Hopefully you'll be able to get rid of it once and for all!  That must be frustrating dealing with that all the time.  Haven't any of the doctors expressed any concern about her growing immune to antibiotics?

@louisevoltaire‌ not one has mentioned it, but I'm still concerned.

  • Sounds like you definitely need to see an infectious disease doc. If you don't get a near immediate referral from your primary than call your insurance to see who they recommend. This should be addressed by an expert since it hasn't resolved yet. So sorry you both are going through this.
