I also don't see a problem with baby bikinis. I have two daughters and don't buy them simply bc it means more sunscreen in more places. I don't think they represent anything sexual.
@JLMcWeeney I think the bikini you posted is cute. I don't like adult style bikinis on little girls, such as the triangle top. Triangle top bikinis on women are meant to be a bit revealing and sexy, which is why I think it's inappropriate to put on a child. A tank style bikini on a baby I don't think is bad, but I choose one pieces or rash guard tops for sun protection.
@JLMcWeeney I don't like teensy/string bikinis on anyone, baby or not, so I especially don't like them on a LO. If your swim suit covers less than a standard pair of underwear and bra, it doesn't belong in public IMO. I know this is a huge UO.
@JLMcWeeney, I can't explain why I feel this way I just do. I thought baby bikinis were cute until last summer and I was pregnant with my little girl, I saw them in the store and just thought "I don't want DD wearing a bikini when she's little". No real reason I guess. The tankini is OK because it looks like a 1 piece but has the diaper change convince. And she will probably go without a top some this summer too, more likely just at home though.
Thanks for explaining. I totally get it now. It's not the coverage. It is something sexy on a baby. You wouldn't want your daughter in a skin tight low cut party dress even if it was made for a baby because it is meant to be sexy.
I'm soooo late to this party, but now I'm here and I'm just rolling my eyes. @lindszachary, I'm not saying this to be a jerk, but you might take it that way. Why are you here? If this board is pearl-clutching and prudish, and many of your posts are taken the wrong way or flamed by regs, and no one backs you up when you go all crazy and spew hate all over Aug '13, why do you keep coming back? I'm genuinely curious what's in it for you. I'd feel weird posting somewhere where I knew people disliked me or looked down on me for my immaturity. And if we just don't get you like your IRL friends do or you want to discuss things we "clutch pearls" at, why don't you go find a board that suits you better?
@jdoud77, I would've made the exact same comment to you or anyone else that posted something like that. I don't discriminate in my hate for inappropriate behavior involving someone's LO.
She doesn't have to explain herself. A simple "I never thought of it that way", or "I don't agree, but a lot of people seem to see it like that, so I'll remove the pic/caption" would do. If I posted a pic/comment that I thought was fine, but the general population found inappropriate/sexual, I'd delete it.
Aaaaaaaaaand we made it to 4 pages, wooooo hooooo!!!!
This whole thing makes me sad though. I doubt she's going to come back and I get it, I wouldn't either. I think maybe I missed the bus a bit though, I don't really recall her posts being overly sexual... I have to agree with PP though, the main reason the post bothered me so much is because you don't know who is looking through these boards for something just like that. I really didn't think it was funny, and I'm about the least "pearl clutchy" person you can find. None of us are prudes, it's just not something that most people would ever feel comfortable making a joke about.
@PumpkinMommaaa: Well I've been pregnant and sick (morning sickness, migraines, etc.). Then my DS fell and fractured his skull so we've been traveling back and forth between the specialists (no internet so no TB). And finally WE MOVED! So I have been unpacking and working crazy amounts of overtime to afford this new place. I've missed you ladies though.

Sorry to hear about your DS, that is so scary! I've been wondering how everything had been going with the new pregnancy and such. Congrats on the new place! It's so exciting! We are moving to FL soon and I'm so so excited for something new.
Thoughts and prayers for your DS and I hope to see you around here more!
@twolittlewheels: I am going to try and attach a photo... try...
This happened at the beg. of April. My Dh went to stand up from sitting on the couch and place DS next to him on the couch so he could sit up then grab DS. Well DS decided as this was happening he'd do his little "crunch to sit up as well" move and in a serious of events rolled of the couch and banged his head onto our wrought iron coffee table. Literally freak accident.
DH calls me CRYING hysterically on the phone (DS is laughing in the back ground) and says there is a dent in DS's head. A. Dent. In. His. Head. So I head off to the ER to meet them. Fast forward, skull fracture, we're being air lifted to a hospital 2 hours away. That Children's Hospital says there's no additional internal bleeding or swelling but the dent will need to be lifted and re-set (won't correct itself with time) soooooo... we were there for like a week.
BUT he's all better now, zero complications. Little champ.
My DH on the other hand is traumatized. Literally sold all of our coffee tables when we got home (we had big expensive coffee tables). Bought ottomans (over-stuffed and soft).
@twolittlewheels: He was scream/crying like a 2 year old. It was hard to understand him. He said he felt like he was going to throw up. I don't think I could have done it either.
I was removed (because he was so emotional) but I was queasy at best. No blood though, thank goodness!
@kimberlymacrae So happy to see your DS is doing great. This story makes me want to sell my coffee table as well. That same exact freak accident happened when my DH was 3 months old but the result was a red scar. Also congrats on a baby girl
@LelaDenney: Thank you thank you. Yeah, we tried not selling them, just moving them out 6-12 inches more but then all the furniture just looked funny. @drey1028: I want to sell everything with an edge, not because I am over protected... I am just over my DH saying "Oooooh, do you think he could hit this, bump that, etc." I'm thinking I might invest in a helmet! @Legitsince86: Thank you!!
@kimberlymacrae- I don't think I was actively posting when you were around so you wouldn't know me. Just wanted to say I'm so glad your DS is okay, that's crazy what happened I couldn't imagine!
@kimberlymacrae I'm so glad to hear he's doing great! That's such a scary situation, I'm sorry DH had to handle that and he's (understandably) having a tough time with it. What a trooper DS is, and chicks dig scars!
By the way, how is DH doing? I remember he had a health scare a while ago, did anything get figured out?
@kimberlymacrae Shit that is a pretty scary dent.. I couldn't really picture it but ouch poor DS! So glad everything was okay and that he's nice and recovered now.. DH on the other hand will remember that moment for the rest of his life I'm sure.
@kimberlymacrae how scary! I'm sorry to hear about poor Ky! I am glad he's healing well and you're back. Sucks balls about a not so fun pregnancy this time but Yay for a little girl! We missed you and Are glad you're back! Is your H okay from way before that happened when he was away for work and got sick? Yaaaay for the new house, too! So glad so many September mamas are in new homes!
