MaterniT21 and twins

At our 12 week appointment we did the blood work for the Mat21 test.  14 days later the lab sent a report saying they could not get enough DNA and to redraw, so I went that day to redraw. The next day a geneticist from the lab called and said to wait until after 16 weeks. So we had to toss the blood work from the week 14 draw.  We have our next appointment on the 19th of this month and the Dr wants to know if we want to do the redraw. 

I am undecided.  I guess the lab told our nurse that they do not have set parameters for when to draw the blood for twins and that it that even 16 weeks might be too early.  I am 39 so we wanted to know early if there was some abnormalities so we could prepare, but at this point I feel we are almost halfway so it does not feel as pressing to do the test.

Has anyone had this issue with MaterniT21? If you did the MaterniT21 and had a successful test when did you do the blood draw?

I had the same thing happen at 11 weeks With the "not enough DNA" we did blood work again at 13 weeks. Currently waiting for those results. Super frustrating! Our MfM says that with twins the amnio (if needed) should be at 16 weeks. I want the results of the bloodwork before I make any other decisions. UGH!

Mine came back twice with "not enough DNA" at 12 weeks and again at 15. We decided to just not have it done. The NT scan/blood work looked okay and while we are both older than dirt we have no other risk factors.

Thank you ladies! Our NT Scan looked ok as well. DH was really pushing for the Mat21 so if he still wants it on Monday I will probably just do it. But that is as much testing as I am willing to do. It is so stressful for me.  I want to go back to focusing on a happy pregnancy!

I had the Mat21 draw at 11 weeks and they were able to do the tests. Good luck to you!

Our geneticist would not even give us the option of doing Mat21 with twins. She said twins tend to mask each other so we wouldn't be able to really determine who had any problems, if any.

@katekat8721 Thank you for sharing! That is what I was concerned with.  The nurse kept calling it the twin factor but didn't describe what that really means.

Our MFM drew blood for Verifi after our NT scan, which was 5/9. I got the results yesterday. They told us it would be 8-14 days, but didn't say if they were business days. Either way, results came early!
