Early bedtime kiddos

My son goes to bed at 6pm, but is now regularly waking at 5:15. I've tried experimenting with a later bedtime, even going until 7:15, but he still wakes at the same time! I know I shouldn't complain b/c that's 11+ hours of sleep but that is SO early. Not to mention, his first nap ends up being 7:30am, which is crazy. And since he only takes two naps (the second around 11:30), it makes for VERY long and often times very grumpy afternoons. Help - I'm open to any advice or words of wisdom - or just commiseration!

    Commiseration here.

J goes to bed at 6:30 and wakes up around 5 for a bottle. He will go back down on most days until 6:30. I thought when the time changed we had a chance at a later bedtime. Nope forget it. We can push his first nap to 8:30-9 and then his second at 1. If he had it his way he would go to bed at 6. I have no idea how to keep him up.

  • Mine goes to bed at 7pm.. the few times he has stayed up till 730 or so he doesnt sleep any later..sometimes wakes up even earlier.. its usually always around 6-630 when he wakes up.  On days when he hasnt napped well were lucky to make it till 7 and the same he doesnt sleep in any later.

Commiseration here as well! LO goes to bed at 6:30 and USED to sleep till 6:30 which was ok. But, now she is getting up at 5:30…not ok. It doesn't matter if we move her bedtime back 1/2 hour or an hour, she still wakes up at 5:30 - so she's just losing an hour of sleep! We have had darkening curtains on her windows since the time change (her room is super dark now!) so it can't be the light waking her.

I'm wondering about giving her a bottle like PP have said they do….I usually don't. We get up and snuggle and then she gets a bottle about 6:30/7. She is always super excited to see her bottle…I'm going to try and give her a bottle at 5:30 and see if she goes back to sleep tomorrow, maybe she is waking up hungry. Worth a shot!
