Trouble TTC

I Just Want a Red Bull!

Lately I have been getting sooooo tired in the afternoons.  At my work there are coolers full of Red Bull and Rock Star and tons of different coffee options and it is so hard to resist having something to give me an energy boost.  I even have a warm Red Bull sitting at my desk that I grabbed sometime last week before remembering I was in the 2WW and should not be drinking it.  I've never been into energy drinks and only have one cup of coffee in the morning so the fact that I keep seriously considering having one is telling of how tired I am getting during the day.  (I even went and got my thyroid levels checked but they were fine.)

So, I guess I was wondering what you do when you need an energy boost in the afternoons since caffeine is a no-no??  I need some tips and tricks big time!

Re: I Just Want a Red Bull!

  • So sorry, that is so frustrating! My DH says that in Chinese culture, people think it's normal to get sleepy/fatigued in spring time as your body adjusts to the temperature and allergens.

I get excited about waking up because I can go water the veggie garden and see how they fared overnight. It smells fresh and perks me up.

I also stopped eating or drinking anything but water after about 7pm, because I found I sleep better and more soundly without anything going on with blood sugar.

    Good luck!

  • I had to give up most of my caffeine years ago but I have been known to sneak a chi or green tea in the afternoons when I want something. They don't have as much caffeine and I always get a small. It's all in moderation.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • I totally understand that you might want to avoid caffeine completely, but just in case you're allowing yourself a little, Red Bull doesn't have that much caffeine. Most people think it's packed with caffeine, but it's about 80 milligrams. That's about as much as a weak cup of drip coffee. For comparison, a large Dunkin Donuts has ~240 mg and a small even has ~132 which is way more than a red bull. Like I said, I get it of you want to avoid, but they're really not THAT bad once and awhile :)
Ummm, can you tell I drink a lot of caffeine. I stated the caffeine content from memory. :-/

this might be a silly question...and perhaps one of my problems...but why did you cut caffeine out completely? Is that better for fertility!? My RE never told me to do that!!

  • @rella22 - I didn't cut it out completely.  I have a hard time imagining life without it!  I still have a cup of coffee in the morning but have heard that it's not recommended to have more than that in the 2WW.
