How does she pronounce it? The field trip is not until monday so i havent heard the names out loud yet.

I think Rubiya is a legitimate name. My husband has a co-worker by this name., she goes by Ruby. So I would pronounce that Ruby-yah. A quick Google search shows a lot of websites saying "Muslim Baby Names." Nothing on BTN though.
