Hey..so im new to this whole thing...still trying to figure it out. im 16 weeks pregnant and at 12 weeks they did a Panorama test on me to tell me what im having. They told me I was having a girl. I am stoked but I'm worried it will be inaccurate. They say its over 99 prevent accurate and they prefer that over an u/s. Has anyone else had this and thoughts on it?

All that said, 1% is a slim margin. You are most likely having a girl according to your results.
Also, and I'm really not trying to snark you here, what if you have a boy? Really, what can you do? What will it change for you? Honestly, I see no point in getting worked up about it. By extension, it's pointless to get riled at the responses.
You are having a healthy baby. Cool. Boy, girl-- whatever. They are still yours!

people are allowed to handle their pregnancies however they choose. i had the panorama done specifically to find out the gender early because i am impatient. how does vanity even play into that @laurendag?! i was also worried about the possibility of abnormalities, even though i had no risk, so the test also served to ease my easily worried mind. i am extremely appreciative of a healthy pregnancy, but why can't i take advantage of the options available to me just to be sure? i don't think i will be posting to these boards anymore due to all the negativity. it's a shame, really, since it can be a great source.
I am defending how the post came across to me. I'm allowed to do that just like you are allowed to try and act like a nursemaid to finger-wag at me.
She was more concerned about accuracy for sex. Fact. Otherwise, why ask about it? It wasn't, "I have a history of genetic disease in my family. I'm worried. How accurate is this test?"
This place is commercially based & not really meant to be a group hug type environment. OP wasn't worried about genetic results. She added that later when she was called out about her priorities appearing to be whacked.
How else are we supposed to interpret her question? She places value on the sex of her kid when that isn't really the purpose of the test. It's a by product due to some genetic issues being sex linked.
Remove head from sphincter, then post.
LFAF Summer 2016 Awards:
Also, just to point out, I would be more worried that my bloodwork was not accurately screened for the genetic issue. I would be waaaay more concerned for being part of the 1% that was given an "all clear" & it was somehow wrong. Not if my kid's junk was the opposite. Of all the things to worry about being "wrong" the sex is the last one if I'm truly worried about the accuracy of blood work.
Doesn't that make more sense? My priorities are based on the health of my kid, that's why.

Oh.

Once again why be such a bitch?? Your right no one has been talking to me because I have decided not to respond to all the negative comments
Oh come off it. Just stop.
Miscarriages do NOT entitle you to treat people poorly & call them bitches. You failed to communicate properly in your original post. That is on you. Rather than exhibit maturity you choose to go on rants like the one above.
I hope my kids are allergic to bullshit like me. I hope they have a ton of intelligence & a quick wit like me. I also hope they know when to speak up & tell someone when they are behaving like a jerk. You are behaving like a jerk.
You got your question answered. You just didn't like the way it was done. That sucks for you, but Life 101, you can't always get what you want the way you want it. This is not Burger King. You don't get it your way.
Why is your blood boiling? What did you expect?
LFAF Summer 2016 Awards:
I disagree. You re-worded your post after someone questioned you. That's called being called out.
Calling me a bitch really doesn't help you.
LFAF Summer 2016 Awards:
Hmmm...
Please clarify for me. Your baby has health issues & yet here you are asking about sex accuracy? Doesn't that sound fucked up to you? That's what I am trying to point out to you. From what you post it sounds like you would rather blather on with righteous indignation that people are pointing out how odd it is that you are placing such importance on whether your blood work is right about sex.
I think it's rich that you are questioning my reading ability when you have access to the medical information about your blood work. You can, hopefully, clearly see 99% is pretty damn accurate. Why in the world would you trust internet strangers vs. what your doctor & the manufacturers of the blood test TELL you?
I'm sorry your pregnancy & baby are having health issues. That is very frightening. However, the only person saying anything close to hateful in this thread has been you. Do you not see this?

C'est la vie... You are still posting. So odds are you don't have anything better to do either. I'll justify my time if you justify yours. ;;)
It sounds like October 2014 doesn't understand the depth of cray they have on their BMB.
It's considered bad forum etiquette to go crying to another board because you don't like the responses you got in this thread. I think you should know that. It generally looks whiny & immature.
My kids are laying on me while we all cuddle during a thunderstorm. What do you propose I do?

The OP looked bad without the history given later on, it needed to be pointed out. As someone who is dealing with genetic abnormalities, I would think that the OP would completely understand that worrying about the sex is ridiculous....hence my lack of understanding at the name calling...seriously, no one was mean here except you.

OMFG!! This makes this thread AMMMAAAAAZING!!! SQUEE!
I remember being so sad for you with your last loss. I'm so incredibly stoked for you! CONGRATULATIONS! I hope this baby is your take-home, 100 percent healthy Take-Home Rainbow baby!!
The kiddos are doing well. DS is almost walking & DD has perfected the near-threenager diva-insanity. They are both napping. Gah, I'm so happy for you @VCGolfNYC !!!!!

Actually I was NOT more concerned about the sex of my baby, I already know what I need to know about my blood test results and what I have to deal with now because of them. Which I would have discussed but never did and don't feel the need to share with a bunch of hateful women. Sure they say 99% Accurate, but I've never known anyone to have these tests done so I was CURIOUS. Lord help me because im curious. It does not make me some bad person in any way because I asked a question. Once again the testing was done for the health of my baby, and im far from "whacked". And I wasn't "called out" on anything. I chose to re word my post. Stop being such a negative bitch.
@kmgriff0709
Are you sure you weren't concerned about just the sex - because your ORIGINAL POST made it pretty clear that you were. "They did a Panorama test to tell me what I'm having" - um no they did it because you have a history - the sex is a bonus and then "I'm stoked but worried it might be inaccurate"

Really, you are the only one going off the deep end. Take a deep breath. It's not all that serious.
I think maybe a break from the boards in general would be a good idea? If it's disturbing you this much I really think you need to talk to a counselor
