International baby registry?

Hi ladies,
My family is in the States and DH's family is in Canada. I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to set up a registry for both sides of the family, so far BabyList looks good. Any other suggestions? Is anyone else dealing with the same issue? It's kind of annoying because though both countries have stores like Babies R Us etc, the registry systems are totally separate.

Thanks for reading!

  • No experience with this, but I have heard of people doing registries on Amazon. So maybe look and see if that would work?

This is a tough one. I think most registries are seperate websites for Canada and the US, and lots of stuff in the states doesn't ship to Canada. Amazon.com is actually really bad for that. You can see it and add it to the cart but it won't ship to Canada. Do you live in Canada or the States? If you live in the States I know people can buy stuff on American only shipping websites as long as it is shipping to an American address. I'm guessing you could probably do the same if you live in Canada. So everyone can buy off the website regardless of where they live, as long as it's shipping to you? I don't know if you would want to do it that way, but it may work.

This. When we were living in another country, I sent wedding gifts off of a registry to friends in the states. It was no trouble at all since I was buying it on a site for the country it was being sent to.

  • We're in Canada, so we do have quite an issue with shipping from certain websites. My Mom wants to throw a baby shower for me back home in the States, but I won't be able to lug stuff back on the plane with me. I'll have to see if we can just register through Canadian stores/companies, so there won't be shipping issues. Thank you for your input ladies!
