Taking omega-3s?

Hi ladies,

Besides your pre-natal, are you taking any other supplements?  Such as fish oil or a vegan source of omega-3s?

  • I am taking B6 to control nausea...  Vitamin D...   and probiotics. 

    No omega 3s right now, though.

    I take krill oil. I've been taking it for a few years, since I never eat fish, so I just kept it up, along with vitamin d, b complex, and probiotics.

  • A prenatal that includes DHEA and Folic Acid. 

    Otherwise, I eat a lot of pasture-fed, free-range meats and eggs which are naturally high in Omega 3s and 6s. So I don't worry about needing any supplements for that.

    I take the one a day vitamins for pregnancy as well as the DHEA prenatals. I also take 2000IU of Vit D every day.

    I take a drinkable prenatal called isotonix. My doctor recommends 4000 mg of fish oil. She says it helps depression; and baby's brain development. I asked about more folic acid. She said my prenatal had enough.

  • Just don't skimp on the quality of the fish oil, Ladies. There can be high mercury in some.

  • I have been really curious about the fish oil supplements and was going to ask my midwife about it at my appointment tomorrow. I eat fish here and there but not enough, I think, and the only food aversion I really have right now is eggs :-(
  • You can get plenty of Omega 3s and 6s from pasture fed meats, so you could go that way instead of eggs. Or just take the fish oil. They make a chewable kind that is not so nasty-tasting.

    DHE/EPA, vitamin D, iron, alfalfa (the only thing that got my iron up last time)

  • Prenatal, folic acid, royal jelly, fish oil, CoQ10, calcium supplements and my thyroid med. I keep trying to figure in iron, but I eat a lot of red meat, so probably ok. Cant take calcium and iron wirhin 4 hours of thyroid..... :P

  • My prenatal by centrum has omega 3's so been doing those when I can! All day sickness makes it hard! Lol

    1200mg of Omega-3 (420 EPA 280 DHA)
    Probiotic
    25mg vitamin B2
  • 500 mg of DHA, 4mg of folic acid (doctor prescribed) and a baby aspirin every day in addition to my prenatals.
