Not sure if anyone is still using this thread, but I am wondering if I should wash the diaper bag (surface clean only) before packing it for the hospital.
And I probably need to wipe down the crib & changing table...yes?
Ok question about bassinets - a friend offered to let us borrow their bassinet to use in our room for the first couple months but I'm thinking it would work better if we just got a PnP mattress/sheet and used the PnP instead. The bassinet has the straps to hold her in which I don't think make sense for a newborn since she'll be swaddled when she's sleeping, right? Just curious what others would do... pic of the bassinet is attached for reference.
@babygabe614 I'd try the bassinet, especially if it's free We have a small bedroom and a bassinet would leave way more space then the PnP though so that sways my answer.

@katekat8721 What would you do about the whole t-strap though? It doesn't tuck under the cushion and I'm confused about how I'd be strapping her in if she's all tucked into a swaddle?
@babygabe614 fwiw we don't use the strap in our RnP because he is swaddled
Same here. We just move it out of the way as much as we can. Once they're in their swaddle or jammies it doesn't seem to be jabbing into them or anything!
I'm trying to avoid getting a sterilizer (I don't want one more thing on my counter), but DH feels strongly about sterilizing bottles at least the first few weeks before vaccines. How exactly do you sterilize using just the pot of boiling water? I know you boil water and submerge for some time, but: How long? How do you keep the bottles from sinking to the bottom and potentially melting? Rolling boil or simmer? Any help/advice would be great! Note: we're planning to BF, but want to have some bottles ready to go just incase that doesn't work out (as well as sterilizing pump parts).
I washed my Medela bottles for breast milk storage in soapy water first, then heated big pot of water. Added bottles and parts and boiled for 10 minutes. We also cleaned our dishwasher- didn't realize how gross those things get- and have a bottle organizer we'll use in future to wash bottles.
I was afraid to wash all of our bottles in case little one hates a certain type, so we only sterilized the Medela for now and will try one bottle type at a time with him later. Hope this all makes sense.
I know this has been asked but these threads are so daunting to go through and searching gets a bit overwhelming. The newborn insert for an Ergo. Yay or Nay? I know they are notorious for creating sweaty baby burritos but what are some other options for using it with a Peanut sized baby? (all 7lbs 12oz of her)
Eta- thinking of getting an Ergo since my K'Tan Breeze just doesn't fit right because I'm in between sizes.
@kaysa2 I got the same one from insurance minus the tote but haven't done anything but sterilize yet. Have you tried it and how is pumping going? Did you get a hands free bra? If not, how does it work, you hold them both up? I am pump clueless.
