CDs at Daycare Poll

Out of curiosity, I am wondering what the experiences are for CD'ing and daycare. I was lucky that for DS1 both daycares he attended were fine with pockets (which is all I had at the time). We won't be able to use either of those daycares for DS2, and I'm just starting to look.
If you put a child in daycare, what was your experience as far as if they would take CDs, and if there was any restriction on type you could send?

They wouldn't use CDs, I had to use sposies for daycare.

We can use whatever. I send aplix pockets or AIOs though because they screw anything else up!!

  • We use pockets at day care. Before Piper fit into the OS pockets, we used workhorses and covers. I get to have her in my class for the next school year and I'm so excited about not worrying about her diapers!

She said no at first but I showed her the Velcro pockets and she said she would try them. Then she loved them better and tried to talk another mom into them.

I sent AIOs, another family used pockets. I don't know if they specifically had rules about type.

  • *Lurker popping in*  We just toured a potential day care last week that I think is going to fit us pretty well.  They said they do cloth diapering and it doesn't matter what kind (I'll probably just send AIO or pockets though), but we have to provide them with a diaper genie.  I was thinking we'd get the diaper genie elite b/c it doesn't make diaper sausages.  I think I can handle that if they're willing to CD.  We only need daycare part time anyway.

  • I said we cloth diaper and they said no problem. The director didn't even ask what kind. The actual caregivers were really nervous on the first day because they were told they had to learn to cloth diaper. I'm sure they were picturing flats, pins, and covers. They were thrilled when I showed them the aplix pockets. They love them but they don't quite get the concept of tucking everything in so that it doesn't wick.

  • Our DC didn't ask/mention what kind when we told them we use CDs. I wound up taking (pre-stuffed) pockets and AIOs in aplix because they never got anything else on correctly.

  • I voted SS mostly so I could see the results. :) I SAH so DD only is in child care a few times a week at the gym and they don't change any diapers, they page you if your kid needs changed.

FTM, my boss's wife watches DS 3 times a week, and they CD but quit after too many leaks. She sold her stash of MF inserts and pockets. Since she started watching DS, she's come to regret not using prefolds and covers.

DD will be going to my moms daycare, so she can be put in whatever kind of diapers I want. That said, she does have one other little one in pockets right now as well, so I'm not getting special treatment lol

FTM due in July. I toured a bunch of daycares centers. None of them had a problem with any type of cloth. Now some of them were totally unfamiliar with cloth, but were willing to do it. I plan on sending pockets or AIO because I just think it is less for them to deal with and mess up when they have other kids to juggle.

  • The wanted pockets, just so it was easier for them...so I send 5 pockets a day, whatever he uses, I take home that evening, and replace the next day. They do have sposies there, just in case but have never used them.

DS doesn't go to daycare... I am currently a nanny (and have used flats and pockets on other kids) and will be switching to providing home daycare after Baby is born. Parents can send me what they want me to use.

Basically this. I do in-home childcare, so I use all my own CDs, and would happily use any types that any of my clients wanted, but none have ever asked. I'd actually prefer to use CDs... I hate dealing with disposables and their leaks on other kids, and taking out all the trash is annoying.

  • I'm a special snowflake, because we had to tell them DS is allergic to sposies to be allowed to use them. There was no restriction on what to use, but if we used prefolds/covers we had to have a new cover AND snappi for every change so we switched to pockets/AIO.
  • When my daughter was in daycare she was actually the first baby they had that did cloth. I sent pockets because her actual care givers were scared of anything else.

  • I put that I could use them with restrictions, but I feel like they're actually more flexible than that.  The lady in the office also didn't really know what she was talking about when describing the types we could use either.

I went with pockets for convenience (I want it to be easy for them), but I did go with snaps, which they haven't had issues with.  Every once in a while there's a floater who changes LO's diaper and the snaps are all wonky, but fortunately we've never had a leak because of it.

Only one place that I looked at didn't take cloth at all, so it was easy to cross that one off our list!

  • We could use pockets, AIO or AI2 but they wouldn't change an insert on the AI2 so kinda defeats the purpose. They prefer aplix but will use snaps when I send them, though they often end up with leaks from not snapping them tight enough.

@Amores0121, giiiirl, tell me about it!  Can you believe I didn't even know about the show until we picked "Ragnar" for our boy name and someone on my BMB told me about it?  Simply put, addicted.

@mrsmechanic1 Where did you find that name at? what's the origin? We started watching it last year and it was a killer to wait almost a year for it to start again. I'm still mad that he did that to Lagatha and is now with the snotty princess. Lagatha is freakin awesome and they were always having crazy hot sex. LOL

Name book, actually.  It's Nordic.  We're both Scandinavian and so we decided to go with a name that represented our heritage.  And I kind of want to shake the shit out of Ragnar for getting with Auslag.  What the hell was he thinking.  L was sooooo much better suited for him.  Though A did redeem herself slightly when she freed the slave girl so Bijorn could be with her.  And yes, I am a little too intensely involved in this show lol.

No, I'm the same way. It's freakin awesome. I love it so much.

We've never had much of a problem finding home daycares that took CDs. We only use pockets or AIOs, so style isn't an issue. I can imagine prefolds or flats being an issue tho, so that I get.

Im having a slight issue tho, as we want to send DD to a specialized daycare centre near us, but they're giving me the run around. We don't want to switch her yet, and there were a few other reasons we didn't end up sending her to that one at this stage, but one of the issues was they said they don't use CDs. Ugh. Still trying to get to the bottom of that one.
