Hospital Visits are getting old

Hey ladies,

This past week and a half has been so crazy, I have been to the ER and had to go in to see my OB on emergency and I think I've had enough excitement until the babies get here. For about a week or so the vision  in one of my eyes would become very bright and I wouldn't be able to see that well out of it. I would go lay down and take a nap and it would be gone when I got up. However, last Monday was a different story. It started with my vision, I got a horrible headache, my arms and hands were all tingly and then I could no longer talk. My DH would try asking me questions and I would just be confused by what he was saying and couldn't find the words to say back. So he took me to the ER. They told me I may have had a stroke or a seizure and needed to have an MRI done. I was finally coming back around when they were telling me this and I was freaking out because of the babies. I sat in that loud, annoying, obnoxious machine fore over 45 minutes and luckily everything was clear. They sent me home ruling it to be dehydration. 

Two days later the exact thing happened again. I called my OB again and since the office was opened I went there instead of the ER. My OB took a look at my blood from the ER and figured out that I was extremely anemic. He told me I have to take iron pills twice a day and I need to slow down my daily activities. He also said my iron was so low that my body was just completely shutting down. What a scary thing to have happen. 

So I'm on my iron pills and so far so good. I just can't believe how crazy the body is and the way it works is just fascinating. 

My goal is to not go back to the hospital until I'm in labor, except when I have ultrasound appointments!

Hopefully, the iron will do the trick!!

You may also want to make sure they also looked at your B12 levels. Low B12 will definitely also cause neurological symptoms (I was severely malnourished before they figured out I have Celiac's).

Yikes! Glad your OB was able to solve it - that sounds so scary. I agree with @lincoln79 - I hope the next few months are completely uneventful (in a good way!).

Wow that is scary. I really hope the iron does the trick. I know the hospital (and especially the ER) sucks but don't hesitate to go in if your symptoms come back.

Wow, sorry it was so scary! I hope the iron does the trick. I'm on it twice a day - ask your doctor about what interferes with absorption. Over time I forgot calcium does so I've had to make sure I don't take it with my morning cereal.

This whole thing just seems so crazy! But I am glad those iron pills are working!!
