So my husband and I recently decided to be in the "not actively TTC, but not necessarily trying to avoid it either" stage of TTC. The more I think about it, the more excited I am about the possibility. Here's my deal.
My "fertility days" were last week, peaking on the 24th, but we were out of town with my family, so no funny business. But there was some definite funny business this morning, and it's been on my mind all day. I know I'm technically past my most fertile days, and I'm due for my next period in five days, so I'm not getting my hopes up & running out to buy maternity pants or anything. But I can't help but hope a little bit.
I guess my question is, even though it might not be likely, is it possible that it took? And would it be too close to my next cycle to stop my period? Would I be crazy to take a test at some point in the next few days? And if I do, when would be the best time to take it? I know I over analyze everything, and don't want to drive my sweet, patient husband nuts on the slightest possible maybe only to have it be nothing, make sense? ANY input is GREATLY appreciated!
TIA! (And yes, I attached an image of my iPhone's "My Days" app. Just trying to be thorough!)
Re: Likelihood...
The only way to know when/if you ovulated is by tracking your BBT (basal body temperature). You will need to buy a BBT thermometer for that, and then take your temp around the same time, and first thing after a long stretch of sleep (so typically in the morning), before you get up or move around. Download Fertility Friend, and use that to track your temps, and other fertility indicators such as cervical mucous if you so choose. You will know you have ovulated when your BBT rises and stays up until you get your period.
Lastly, we are all adults here. You can say sex.

fertility days?
funny business?
are we 10?
Chances are you missed your fertile window. The only way to know for sure is to take your temp and chart your cycle.
An app like that doesn't do much expect track your period.
I am going to ditto what everyone else said. Learn how your body works, get a thermometer and chart your cycle. If you do think you are pregnant, take a test.

To those of you who answered my questions without treating me like a four year old, thank you for your input. I really appreciate it.
To the "Know your body!" army, thank you also as well, for climbing off your high horse to lecture a lowly idiot like myself. I appreciate you spending your valuable time and energy trying to make me feel like an invalid. I will go out and buy one of those BBTs, but over all, I'd say I have a pretty god handle on my body and my cycle. As stated in my OP, I realized it was unlikely. I just wanted to get some input. Two years after we got married, we got pregnant by COMPLETE surprise (ALWAYS used condoms, had just started a new pill), and we lost at it nine weeks.
Just saying anything is possible. Remind me when I AM lucky enough to get pregnant, this is not the place to come make friends with kind, supportive women.
However, this is the EXACT reason I couldn't TTC or NTNP and NOT be temping...I like to know my odds/likelihoods/timing too much or it will drive me nuts. There is power in knowledge.
They've said it before, and I'll say it again...download Fertility Friend and read the tutorials. Temp daily. Then you will really know when you O and how likely you are to be pregnant.

I thought I had a pretty good handle on my body too. 28 day cycle came like clock work every month. .
I used that little app thing for a little while. It said I ovulated on day 14 every month. Do you want to know what I figured out when I acutally started temping. I don't ovulate until day 17. And sometimes I don't ovulate at all- even though I still get AF on day 28.
So you have two choices, you can use that app - and try and guess what is going on and hope to get lucky
OR
You can a take 5 minutes to learn what is ACTUALLY going on and KNOW that your timing is good. Giving you the best odds for conceiving.
