I just checked my inbox and realized I won one if the things from the 5 day giveaway. Hope it's not to late to claim my prize lol. I should check it more often.. Yikes
I just got this picture sent to me from a wedding DD and I were in and I need to share it somewhere. She was obsessed with the flowers and actually wore the dress with no complaints.
ok, this is going to sound very AW, SS, bratty, bitchy whatever. i need to vent. one of my oldest friend's just asked my "permission" if she could use the name i picked out for my baby boy for her son. she is due with her 2nd child one month before me. yes, i realize i have no claim to the name and she has the right to name her kid whatever she wants. yes, i realize its partly my fault for sharing the name, but forgive me i was excited. of course i am going to give her my blessing and i realize that having healthy babies is the ultimate goal here. that being said, yeah i am pissed lol.
edit: forgot to mention, the name is not a common one at all
I've been looking for comfortable shoes to wear to work lately and I was having a hard time justifying the price for what I wanted. Last night I took DH shopping with me and he let me get $50 comfortable flip flops to wear! I work in an elementary school and I was a little worried they would have a problem with them, but I've been wearing them all day and no one said a thing! In addition my feet have felt great all day!
@lola4411 - that is a dick move by your friend, that is not cool! I hope you still plan on sticking with that name, I wouldn't change just because she is using it too. I would be so mad!

I'd be pissed. I know the whole argument of "you can't own a name, people can use it" but blah blah whatever. For all intents and purposes it's your baby's name. She can't choose another name?!
She's back! Creepy, crazy apparent 17yr old is back in the contractions & cramping thread. I know of we shouldn't feed the trolls but work is boring today. Must resist, but...

@lola4411 - are you having a boy? Because if so, I think that's a little bullshit.
@katekat8721 agreed. she had her first pregnancy in 2010 and she's 17 right now so that would have made her 13? not unheard of but definitely a little far out there

I skipped this one the first time around but your post here made me go look. and O.M.G.
@Taymiller@ugabamafans@katekat8721@lest12 thanks for your support ladies! yes, i am sticking with the name. i really love it for our baby boy and it has meaning for us. it is my MIL's maiden name and it has no meaning for her. the irony is that one of the reasons we love it was because it was unique hahaha! just glad i have a place here where i can VENT
@lola4411 - You are so much better than me!!! For other people, you don't own the name but that rule doesn't apply to your best friend.
we live in different states so hopefully it won't sting as badly? distance might help? trying to make myself feel better lol
I think the distance will definitely help! I was imagining you guys getting coffee together somewhere and both saying "____ no don't do that!" and both baby boys being confused.
@lola4411- may I ask what the name is? I totally understand if you don't want to tell us considering the circumstances. I am naming my son Murphy and I would freak out if my best friend decided to name her kid that too. The whole situation is just weird and so wrong!

The cashier at Trader Joe's gave me a free bouquet of flowers as I was checking out. He said, "We love pregnant ladies here!" : ) : ) : )
I was all:
Also, if anyone recalls my situation on another thread, of "my friend said he wanted to buy me a stroller but then he bought me a car seat without asking what kind to get"... I just discovered that one of the large boxes in my living room, which I thought contained part of a crib I ordered, was actually the stroller that goes with the car seat!!! It's been sitting there for a week and I didn't open it yet because we're not ready to set up the crib. Doh!
My antibiotics are out as of tomorrow. Nobody wants to do my primary care, including my OB. I am not better.
I am very depressed over this whole "infection for four months" thing and feel like just throwing in the towel right now. Do I call and ask for more meds over the phone? Do I try to tough it out? Do I wait till I see her next week, knowing I have already relapsed? Ugh. All the options suck.
Today I went to go get my jewelry inspected, and at the end the lady goes, "I have something to show you" She proceeds to show me some ugly necklace and goes, "It can be your push present! That's what she is getting". (points to another worker). ... my response, "I don't believe in push presents. My child is enough of a gift for me" The look on the ladies face was as though she was quite embarrassed as was the associate she pointed to. I felt bad that I embarrassed her, but seriously I don't play the whole "push present game".
I don't get the push present thing either. I mean, go for it if it's your thing, but NMS. One of my friends was trying to shame DH for not thinking of one (more like, not knowing what it is at all) and I had to stop her and state that I didn't want one, which might've made her brain explode. I figure there are plenty of ways to spend money once this kid arrives, I don't need a super expensive purse or piece of jewelry on top of it.

I don't like the idea of push presents either, but wouldn't want to make anyone who wants one feel like crap for it by suggesting that their baby isn't enough of a gift for them.
Hence why I said I felt bad. But I also have a right to express my opinion on them when someone is trying to push them on me.
I wouldn't have said anything if it were some random person mentioning it, but I wouldn't feel bad when it's a sales person trying to push stuff on you, especially since you weren't even there looking to buy anything. Sucks the other chick got dragged into it, but I'm sure she's used that same tactic to push a sale, so even then, not really.
I just hate pushy sales people. Even if I were looking to pick out a push present, having someone shove it down my throat unsolicited would make me go somewhere else.
After finding out that DHs enitre family (dad, mom, 2 sisters, brother, and 5 nieces/nephews) decided to make a family vacation out of this baby being born (coming to visit 1 week after my due date)...I wanted to make sure that A) none of them stayed with us (we have a tiny 2 bedroom apt) and they were up to date on vaccines (read: TDAP).
They've finally gotten back to us that they reserved two hotel rooms so no one will be staying with us, and they've also agreed to get the vaccines!
Its been an ongoing battle and I was set on not letting them around LO if they didn't have the vaccine, which made me sad because I wanted her grandparents to be able to meet her. Granted its his whole freakin' family thats coming...but I feel like I have more control now!
#1 I got home from work today to a huge box on my table. Turns out, one of my work gals can't come to the shower (this Sunday), so she decided to get me the diaper bag I was lusting over and have it delivered to our house! So so nice to come home to at the end of a cray cray Tuesday.
#2 My husband is having surgery tomorrow morning to fix the bone in his elbow. I will be off in the afternoon and likely all day Thursday to help him. But, I'm pretty sure he will just sleep all day when he comes home, and who knows, maybe I will get a nap in too )
#3 Baby shower is on Sunday, which means I get to see fam and friends from out of town who we don't see very often, so woohoo
#4 Next Wed is our Mat photo shoot and my DH made me take the day off work so I could be relaxed, get hair done, etc - the photos are at 6:30 pm. So excited!
#5 In shitty news, my contract mat replacement, who was supposed to start on May 5, bailed yesterday. And my last day is May 30, so my employer had best get the ball rolling on a new one stat.
@KrystaJ I don't think my branch of the hospital does. Lucky! There is a fridge though and there will definitely be booze in my hospital room
I told H that I will be packing my a bottle of red wine in my hospital bag. He doesn't think that I really am.
While I don't think I'd be ballsy enough to do it, my friend who recently had a baby had her mom bring her favorite beer to her hospital room. She and her H each had one over dinner one night before they were discharged.
Trying this again as the first time I accidentally posted this in the Random Pregnancy Questions thread...
I decided to start the naked toddler potty training marathon today. Why? Because it's rainy, we'll be inside all day, and DD refuses to let me put on her diaper. So far she's done really good with going pee in the potty but I'm now watching her like a hawk to catch the first signs that she has to go poop.
Okay, I thought I had most of the acronyms down but what does gbcb stand for? I keep thinking that show good Christian bitches but I know that can't be right. (Also, I loved that show!)

Re: *4/29 AW/SS/Random Thread*
I'm having another one of these days:
@katekat8721, the owner very clearly stated he did not want his girlfriend bringing black people to his games.
Apparently he was previously charged with discrimination for refusing entry to African American and Hispanic people to the games as well.
Long story short, guy's a douche.
Either way, your friend is a lame-o lol

And Henry got orders to try bottle and breast feeding tomorrow! Hopefully I'll have a good report after I try breast feeding!!
Success!
