Pregnant after a Loss

Pregnant with previous or current fibroids or previous uterine surgery?

Hi, Just wondering if any of you are pregnant with fibroids or if any of you have had them removed and are pregnant now. I'm worried that they'll come back for me... I had an open myomectomy in December and the surgery went well, but I'm now pregnant the first month I was allowed to try. I had two previous mc's that the doctor thinks could have been because of the he huge fibroid... One huge one was removed that was rapidly growing but there were a few tiny ones there too. For those of you who don't know, pregnancy often makes them grow like zits during prom week.

For anyone who had had them, I'd love to hear your experience. Also, did anyone have them removed and then come back? I know every pregnancy is different, but still. Lastly, I'm going to have to do a c section because of my history, but I'm curious if anyone with a history of uterine surgery was able to deliver vaginally.

  • This likely doesn't help, but I have had 3 fibroids removed through vaginal myomectomy. My fibroids ranged in size from 3-8 cm. so not huge, but enough to cause pain and constant bleeding, and 3 surgeries. My OB is allowing me to attempt a vaginal delivery since I did not have an open surgery. I have only had 1 person on my care team question whether I should be allowed to attempt a vaginal delivery, and that was a RN. The OB's are all on board. I'll obviously let everyone on this board know how it goes sometime in the near future!

I also have 1 small fibroid that has not grown at all during pregnancy and has not caused any problems. My previous losses were all a direct result of my fibroids.

  • I had some removed in 2009 vía a hysteroscopy and D&c (no abdominal incision, the d&c removed my small fibroids). I was told there was at least one small one still in there. To my knowledge, fibroids played no roll in my losses (2010 & 2012).

I have never heard of someone with a myectomy in their history being allowed to labor. I was able to deliver DS vaginally and attempt DDs delivery that way...but my procedure was pretty non-invasive.
