Headphones for 2 year old

We will be travelling to Europe to visit relatives in a month. The plane ride is at least 10 hours and we are trying to think of ways to keep DD entertained. She will be just turning 2. Does anyone have any good recommendations for headphones for a two year old? Thanks!

Re: Headphones for 2 year old

  • I have a pair of folding headphones by Philips (which happen to be noise canceling, if you put the batteries in ;) ) that fit on my daughter's head well enough and have since she was a bit over 2 (hadn't tried them before).  The other thing I've done is partially deconstruct both cheap headphones and a hat and put the headphones in the hat.

  • We're on our third set of headphones.  The first two did not survive the plane trips they were on.  These ones survived multiple plane trips, and my 10 year old nephew deciding he wanted to wear/use them on his big cantaloupe head (which I was worried would break them)

  • I don't have any recommendations, but I will say if you can spring for a set with noise cancellation, it's awesome for a plane.  I used to travel for work all the time and would have my player turned all the way up just to hear it.  Then I got noise cancellation headphones and only had to turn it up halfway.  Totally worth the money to save my hearing,to me anyway

I used DH's Rocketfish bluetooth ones when we went to FLorida in March. They're the kind that goes around the back of the neck, but that fit ontop DD's head just fine. And it was nice not to have to worry about the wires getting tangled, pulled on, etc.

  • I'm not a flyer, so I haven't flown with my kids and have no plans to.  If anything we may go to Disney, which is 2 1/2 hours.  I can't imagine spending 10 hours in a plane with my 2 or 4 year old, I can't even imagine sitting for 10 hours.  I just did career day with 7th graders who had to sit for 3 hours, and they were done  by the end.  If your child will sit for 10 hours with head phones on, great.  I'd just also like to recommend going when they're sleeping, play dough usually keeps my kids busy for quite a while.  I don't know if they're allowed to, but DS, who just turned 2, loves to push cars, especially his UmiZoomi car he got for his birthday.  Maybe he can push a car up and down the row for a while.
