I think it's awful when parents swear at their children. I'm not going to pretend like DS hasn't heard a few words fly in traffic but I try to avoid using them when I am talking to him. Granted, he is too young to know what I am saying anyway but it makes me cringe when I see an adult swearing at their children, especially when the children are old enough to know it.
I don't understand why people are so concerned about their weight compared to other pregnant women's weight. I also think it's totally rude to ask people what they have gained during their pregnancy. Every person doesn't weigh the same on this planet because everyone's bodies are different. What makes you think just because you are pregnant you need to know what every other pregnant woman has gained? Makes no sense to me!

@crhein26, you read my mind this morning! I really have an issue with people asking about weight gain and making comments about my body. I really don't care for the weight gain posts... Especially the humble braggers.
Ohhhh I wonder if people will start posting about losing the baby weight too? I can see this happening. Baby weight loss and mucus plug posts I could live without.
I keep reading on here about everyone saying that they are eating healthy and suggesting that as long as we are all making smart food choices our size/babies are fine but last night I left work at 8pm nauseous and tired and got mcnuggets and fries because McDonald's is the only thing by my train. I also have zero appetite so trying to eat the healthier things I loved before being pregnant makes my stomach turn. I feel like the only one.

#team @bmaidplanner - I am eating like crap. Can I pass you a Snickers?
@BMaidPlanner you are not alone...I eat junk too. Usually whatever is convenient when I decide it's finally time to eat. I miss the days when I had a craving (for anything). Lately I only eat because I know I need to feed LO. Most foods healthy or otherwise repulse me for the last 2 weeks. The only item I've been able to consistently eat and mostly enjoy has been plain Ruffles potato chips.
@lyracelesti - I just had some Dr. Pepper and a Reese's. But DS is fed and even dressed so I consider the Reese's my reward. Your LO is also fed and doesn't need to be dressed so I say you get 42308302 Mom Points.
@BMaidPlanner No worries, I ate a donut this morning (and at least a couple times a week for breakfast ). Although I DID wash it down with milk, so that helps balance it out, right?
So my UO today is I hate the confederate flag. I know for some it may represent their family's history (someone fought/died in the war or something) but to me it represents oppression and racism and I will totally side eye/judge you if you have one in these parts (up in the NE)
I don't like when AW or SS is in the title of a post. If you are starting a discussion you are not a SS or an AW. If your post reads like a diary entry THEN you are a SS and will be flamed and giffed accordingly

@mommyp710 - as a Southerner, I am honestly torn on this. Part of me enjoys the historical aspect of it (family who fought in the war like you said), and part of me just hates that it is associated with so many negative things and represents a lot of bad history as well. I never know how to feel about it. GA was one of the last states to get rid of their homage to the Confederate flag in their state flag, and it stirred up so much controversy around here!

I think people think putting SS or AW will keep them from being flamed… in the words of one of my favorite supervillains, those poor unfortunate souls…
@BMaidPlanner, before my GD diagnosis I had a couple binge moments, especially first trimester; chicken nuggets, burgers, tons of pasta. On my vacation in March, DH and I ate tons of sweets that week and I felt so guilty a month later when I found out I had GD.

This is me when eating milk and Oreos. I'm getting my calcium so it must be good, right?

@flergirl I can accept it better when people are actually in the south, but really have zero tolerance for it up here. Don't feel bad, you are a southerner I do appreciate you being torn on it though, cause at least you recognize the negative aspect of it.
I have been the opposite, I crave healthy foods and fast food and snack food makes me barf. I eat better now than when I wasn't pregnant (hopefully I don't go back to the junk afterwards). I ate 8 kiwis yesterday. I love fries but last time I had them I felt sick. Eat the junk for me ladies! And Reese's are the best.
Also it is a good thing that I don't like the junk now because I eat every hour, I am ravenous!
I think the board is kinda boring until Thursday and Friday rolls around. UO should be on Tuesday instead of thurs to spread it out a little from the fffc
I noticed another bmb has TMI Tuesday. I think we should rip them off and start it!
@bmaidplanner, the healthy foods make my stomach turn, too. It is so weird to me that I have to force myself to choke down a salad. I'm glad you said something because I thought I was a bad pregnant lady.
1. I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only junk food junkie. Healthy foods make my stomach churn lately and I don't have any cares to give. I eat what looks good at the time and will worry about eating better once I don't have a fetus squishing on my insides. H is going to be gone this evening and I'm already drooling about the pizza that I plan to order. NO SHAME.
2. My UO for the day is brought to you by a discussion in a Mom's group on FB: I don't think being a sports fan gives husbands (or wives, for that matter) a free pass to be absent parents. The Penguins are in the playoffs right now and a girl in the group posted that her husband is absolutely useless while games are on... and I couldn't believe how many other women agreed, saying their husbands were the same way and "it's just a guy thing." Um, no. My H is perhaps the biggest football fan on the planet - but he's never used that as an excuse not to parent. If your H is sitting on the sofa eating chips and drinking beer while you're doing all the parenting and housework, that's not a guy thing - that's a douchebag thing.
I think it is super rude when I am getting my kids out of their carseats in a parking lot, and someone pulls into the spot right next to me while I have the door open. I can understand it if the parking lot is full, but when there are a ton of other parking spots nearby and someone does that, I nearly explode.
@erind228 when my daughter was about 4 months old, I was getting her out of the car and another car came flying into the spot next to me. I shut the door because I thought she was going to slam into it. Well, the doors had already locked and my keys were sitting on top of the car seat. I immediately started crying and the woman got out of her car and said "oh that sucks". If I hadn't been concerned about my baby locked in my car I think I would have chased her down and smacked her.
I hate when people who claim to totally adore their pets (esp. Dogs) can ONLYsay how annoying they are as soon as their baby is born. I know that time and energy is limited in supply, but those pets become treated so poorly in some families. (this may not seem unpopular now, buy I know SO many new mothers that have admitted to this!)

The Uppa Baby Stroller (and Stokke crib for that matter) are total status symbols. There's no shame in wanting a status symbol, and if you can afford, I say why not. But just own it, if you say you only bought it for "quality", I will side-eye. There's plenty of good quality strollers/cribs for under a grand. (and yes I know there are permutations of the uppa that are cheaper, but that's besides the point.)
@Read247 Have you tried having coffee to help you go? I'm sure even decaf will work, if you're worried about caffeine intake. Or milk, maybe? Both help me, though I'd say coffee is more reliable.

I live in western NY and someone down the road always has a confederate flag in front of their house. I totally agree with you that it represents oppression and racism!! I just don't get it!!!

I fully expect that our dogs will not get the attention they get now when the baby comes. I'm not really sure how we could avoid it. I hope that doesn't mean they get treated poorly...

I'm from the south as well (NC) and I feel that the song "Accidental Racist" by Brad Paisley and LL Cool J sums my opinion of this...

aw hellz naw. I would have flipped out. And I agree, erin - you seriously can't park one space over? I will give you a candy bar to give you a sugar boost to make it the extra ten feet.
I was at the mall the other day with DS. He was already in the car. It was pouring down rain and I was trying to get his stroller to fold up. It sticks sometimes and I tire out kind of fast and for the life of me could not get this stroller to fold up. A couple of families walk by and I get some sympathetic smiles. Then a guy walks past me and stops. I'm thinking, "yay, maybe some help!" He looks at me, looks at the stroller, looks over at my van (where DS is crying bc he thinks I am never returning), and says, "This is why I am never having kids." AND THEN WALKED AWAY. I almost beat him over the head with the stroller. Don't help if you don't want to but I could have done without the comment. Jerkface.
@Read247 Have you tried having coffee to help you go? I'm sure even decaf will work, if you're worried about caffeine intake. Or milk, maybe? Both help me, though I'd say coffee is more reliable.
Yup! I've tried it all! The only other thing that worked was doing everything at once: stool softener, water, prune juice, increased roughage, coffee and ice cream. I think I lost 5 lbs and burned out my butthole. Sorry, tmi!!
I rarely eat after 2pm anymore, but eat like a teenage boy before thenand don't feel the need to try and space out my food intake.
I'm drinking (decaf) coffee as part of my water intake for my ultrasounds this morning and idgaf if that is totally wrong. I also don't plan on drinking all the water because it hurts my kidney when I have to hold it for too long and I'm not interested in making the pain worse.
I am obsessed with losing the baby weight and am already planning how I am going to do it. I hate my body right now and am doing the planning to have something to look forward to.
I also find people in general to be totally useless, especially lately. They are rude, inconsiderate and obnoxious and my hormones are not handling them well.
I am jealous of you junk-food eaters. I want to eat bowls of cereal for dinner every night, but force myself to have protein and veggies because we are trying to teach DD good eating habits. We break out the dessert after she's in bed, but STILL. This was the hardest thing about first tri - I literally almost puked every night during dinner, but I think it's more important to set a good example for her (and makes my life easier in the long run).
My UO: I side-eye almost everyone in my town because DD's school is the only one with after care til 5:30. I live in an affluent area so almost all the moms have nannies or don't work. I need to work, and I don't have a nanny. WTF do normal working parents do with their children after 2pm? DD's school's summer camp is only until 3pm. This will be workable this summer b/c of baby, but I don't know what I'm going to do next summer. HOW DO PEOPLE DO THIS?!?!?!
There were confederates in the northern states, too. The Mason-Dixon wasn't a stone wall boundary to keep them in the South.
My UO: Black licorice sucks.
I don't think anybody suggested there weren't people up north that were confederates, but it's pretty clear that the confederate flag is not a symbol of "the North" or northern heritage in any way. I think it's pretty obvious what the previous posters meant by differentiating the north.
No, but my point was that there may be people in the North who DO fall into that familial heritage category.
I think there are better ways to show off family heritage. Just because someone is German, for instance, doesn't mean they should tote a swastika around. It is totally in poor taste, IMO.

Nope. Not the only one. These final weeks I'm eating whatever I want (read: lots of baked goods) because I know I'm going back to my healthy diet as soon as she's born. Yes, I still eat fruits and veggies too but I also eat stuff I wouldn't touch if I weren't pregnant.
