I think I've received all of my medical bills, and just added them up and thought it would be interesting to share and compare.

Billed: $17,600

I have a friend who is pregnant, she's 24 and married, and she's still on her parents insurance for another year, or whatever the cut off age is.
This, except our upgrade was $15 for the room per day.

However in February, I spent 2 nights in L&D for norovirus. I met my deductible then (I haven't received a bill yet, but BCBS let me know my deductible has been met). So technically the birth won't cost me anything.
In regards to what pps said about teen moms, I am 24 and married and I still use my parents insurance as my secondary insurance until I'm 26, only bc it costs them no extra for me to stay on it so we figured why not. However, that insurance will not cover any maternity costs. Most insurance plans will only cover a spouse for maternity related things. I'm thinking those teen moms must get Medicaid.
This pregnancy was a $250 co-pay & I won't see a bill for myself or LO since the rest is covered by my insurance.
Who knows how much?!?! All free!! God bless the NHS!!
Home birth would have cost me $3,500 for all prenatal care and birth with a home birth CPM midwife.

Whoever said they're going to canada for the next kid - I agree. I have permanent residency in Australia and I'm pretty sure it would be cheaper for me to fly there and give birth.
